fx bobcat .22-.25 or fx gladiator .22-.25

hey guys I'm kind of new to the PCP game but i have been looking at the FX brands/ maybe a marauder or hw 100. Im going to be shooting anything from rats to large rabbits and large birds, I'm looking for a gun that has a good shot count (anything above 45) and shoots well at long range (20 yards to 120yards) and i wouldn't mind having an adjustable power setting. I want it all below $3500 that includes every thing you need to fill up the gun and put a sling or bipod on it. I don't really care about the velocity of the gun just nothing over 1100 fps, and anything over 20 ft/lbs would be nice. if you think of another gun that suits all this your info would be much appreciated.
thanks in advance

I'd suggest the Bobcat .25. I have a Bobcat .22 and only because I need something with less power for shooting at my clubs indoor silhouettes. I have a .25 marauder and that caliber is just so versatile, it can shoot well at a lot of velocities and is very accurate. Also, pellet selection is great. You can tune at 20FPE or crank it to 60FPE if you want to tinker. I'm not familiar with the gladiator, but I think it comes down to wanting a conventional rifle vs a bullpup.

I bought an FX 400 (.22 cal) this year and love it. Easily get 70 plus shots with it. I shot over 80 shots with it before at a 25 meter target and didn't notice any POI drop?
I also have a .25 Cal Cricket rifle that is lights out accurate. 48 shots on a fill.
They are my keepers ;-)

Wish I had known they had the FX Royale 400 Sport before I bought mine? That is one beautiful stock!

Gladiator will be the shot count king... it is a rear bottle gun so for me it feels a little weird. I like my Bobcat for the length it is easy to move around in tight areas like around farm equipment etc. Check out Daystate Air Ranger in 25 they have them on sale at AOA . Awesome gun for a great price. With your budget you could put a great scope on it also. Whatever you get remember that the scope is the other big investment in absolute accuracy.

ok thanks guys i will see what i can get, I'm leaning towards FX royal 500 .25 and FX royal 400 .22 and FX bobcat .25 but than theres a daystate huntsman regal xl for sale close buy for $2100 so ill see what best suits me best. thanks for the tips on the guns and stuff really appreciated if you have any other tips on the FX guns i would really love to hear them even if there just minor.

I have a FX Royal 500, love the gun but for me (5'8") carrying that gun anywhere but the yard is a no go as I don't wanna "bump" into vines, brush or any other obsticals in the field while hunting and damage the rifle. Also the Royal 500 is a long gun and front heavy and heavy in general. To me the Royal 500 is a great bench/target shooting in the backyard type of PCP. I am also searching for a great field/hunting/mobile rifle now, .25 Wildcat, .25 Bobcat, .25 Impact all are on my watch list. I'm pretty sure they ^ all have the shot count and energy to make u happy. Plenty of other nice PCP's too, I'm just not as informed on them. GL and let us know what you get.

Ohh incase it's not apprent the Royal 500 is stupid accurate, it's kinda to the point to where u move further away from your target as you want that "challenge". my normal distances have been 25-50 meters.

ok sweet thanks guys i think i will just go with the FX royal 400 .22 because price of pellets and just the general price and also all FX air guns have the same smooth twist barrel on so it won't be always the guns fault for missing the target, and if i want extra shots when out hunting i will just buy an extra 400cc air cylinder, but thanks for all the info it is much appreciated.
sorry haven't gotten around to reply but work can be a bloody bugger at the good of times ;)

Get the 25!!!!!! Ted has a vid comparing the 22 and 25 and there is no comparison. Check out the air volume on the 25 Bobcat, it is one of the highest in all air guns. The Cricket rifle is really nice looking and they have a great rep. I have the 25 Marauder and it is a great gun for the money but you have the budget for better. Only issues I have with it is shot count, about 20 and I just don't like the stock. But, for the money it is tough to beat.

I shoot a rather high power .22 (40fpe) and get 40+ shots with no POI change and am in the market for another rifle. 2 actually, 1 for me (and my wife I suppose) and another for my brother in law.

I will DEFINITELY be buying a .25 for myself without question. The ability to "buck" the wind from .22 to .25 is rather significant from my understanding. Also, cost of pellets really isn't that much different. At least, not enough for me to have that be a determining factor on caliber choice. And as mentioned above, you don't HAVE to sacrifice shot count if you want to choose a .25. Really, anything over 40-50 is pretty damn good... In a hunting capacity, I've never taken that many shots in a session (yet) and I can't imagine many others would either, but a buddy bottle will fix that right up if you do.

I certainly enjoy my rifle and have no qualms with the authority in which it smacks a target, but confidence grows with a .25 over a .22 just as you would have more confidence in a .22 over a .177. I've passed on a couple coons now that I probably wouldn't have if I had a .25 with adequate power.

I'm fairly new to the PCP world, but that's just my 2 cents. All I know is I've got a damn nice .22, but I'm not going to be happy until I get a larger caliber.

I have the Bobcat as well and love it ! Don't think you can go wrong with one .My budget was about the same I found a used one at AOA and the got the best scope, fill tank, bipod and some there stuff . All in all I dumped $2,500 if feel it was a great deal . So good luck and don't be scared to get a used gun from AOA they wouldn't sell anyone something they wouldn't buy : ) And God made small cridders out of meat so we can eat them : ) Bobcats Rule !
