Fx Barrel Tensioning

It's not a new barrel assembly. It's just a tensioned shroud similar to what Ernest Rowe has done.

I think this is different than the tension carbon shroud that Ernest did. There was a video that someone did I believe, showing the whole assembly. It looked like there are set screws in the barrel housing holding the tension block on which pulls the barrel. So you can take barrel off with out losing tension.

Matt talks a little about it in this video at 22:16

After watching a few videos, I am not really seeing a whole lot of gains in accuracy from these barrel tensioners. Are they really worth the time, money and ammo? Especially on a gun as accurate as the impact or maverick already is.

Answer is yes and no. Once your gun is well tuned and you are careful with your gun then you don’t really need the tension thing, accurate gun is accurate gun. BUT the tensioner does make tuning a ton easier and helps keep it there even with temperature swings. To some it’s well worth it but it it certainly isn’t a necessity or FX wouldn’t have sold so many guns right now.

You guys may like this borescope video of a Lilja Custom Barrel & a brand new Remington Rifle Barrel... this difference is amazing!

I hope so lilja barrel blank alone is around 4 to 5 hundred bucks probably if not more then you have to pay someone to chamber it and fit it to the action which is at least another 300 bucks or more it better look better than a run of the mill Remington barrel

Hello everyone,

I just received my Ernest Rowe / Bulletcentral.com Crown tensioner/shroud for my 600mm Superior Barrel. It is a true work of art, with gorgeous carbon construction! As you might imagine, this setup is much heavier than the superlight barrel that comes on the Crown...I have the 700mm Superior barrel as well but waiting for the 700mm shroud/tensioner system to come available. The assembly is very stiff once installed. These are available at www.bulletcentral.com but you'll need to call for the Crown version since they are still receiving components and putting the Crown bits together. Chris and Zach were very accommodating (I called everyday for 2 weeks :)). I'll post accuracy results at 50 yards this weekend with the Superlight factory barrel and Shroud/Tensioner/Superior combination. More to come!
Regards,

Steve
