Hello , I would like to know if the FX Impact barrel tensioner kit can be used for a FX maverick ?
Thanks
Thanks
I found the opposite and have some kind of tensioner on all my FX builds.Don’t waste your time as it won’t help. I put one on my impact and could not get it to shoot well. Took it back off. I think is was a fad as you don’t read anything about them.
Thanks , I think I'll give it a try .I found the opposite and have some kind of tensioner on all my FX builds.
To the OP the answer is effectively no. The Impact and Maverick use different length shrouds. For a cheap alternative you can try using a shim between the shroud and the front barrel support. It needs to be just a little bit longer than the gap you have stock. Dont tighten down the shroud like crazy though as you can pull the barrel transferport out of the breech. This will give you the benefit of still having a shroud to help with noise.
You can also buy some CF tubing on ebay or amazon the correct dimensions for your barrel housing and guy to length for an interference fit with a moderator.

Couldn’t you buy a longer CF liner and cut it down to fit?I found the opposite and have some kind of tensioner on all my FX builds.

Im not quite sure what you mean. If you wanted to use the FX Tensioner kit, you could buy another length of CF that is long enough for the Maverick and alter to fit. But I think that is kind of a waste of money, since you can simply do the same thing but use your moderator in place of the FX custom fitting. I wanted my pcps to be kinda quiet so I opted to ditch the Huma Tensioner I was using. It was an awesome upgrade to help eliminate poi shifting, but it sure made my 80fpe 25Cal loud. I was able to buy a Maverick Shroud from a fellow forum member that is the perfect length for my build, and added a small spacer.Couldn’t you buy a longer CF liner and cut it down to fit?
Maybe I’m missing the definition of a tensioner. I thought it was just a cf sleeve which helped straighten the liner. I know the appropriate length cf sleeve from FX is a little short if used on a 500mm DRS and 3 orings are needed to make it the right length, that’s why I suggested cutting down a longer length.Im not quite sure what you mean. Essentially you just need something to tighten either the shroud or moderator against before it bottoms out on its threads. This will induce some tension on the barrel assembly. The only critical things to keep in mind is you dont want to; apply too much torque while doing this as most FX barrel assemblies are not super duper secure in the breech. And the thing you choose to tighten against needs to be perfectly square or else you will be torqueing your barrel assembly out of true and your rifle wont shoot straight.
That is what FX calls a barrel sleeve. The idea is to replace the 2-3 orings they put between the barrel liner and the barrel housing to try and keep it from flexing too much. The CF Sleeve helps to stiffen up the barrel assembly but does not induce tension. When you snug down the front barrel nut against the CF Sleeve it will induce some tension to the barrel housing, but that is not a good idea since it can warp the housing and liner out of true. Mr. Ernest Rowe suggests not apply very much torque when installing for this reason.Maybe I’m missing the definition of a tensioner. I’m getting no or very little left or right POI shift with my .25 DRS Tactical between 50-70yds, maybe it’s indexed correctly. I’ll probably pick up a cf sleeve just to see if I can squeeze a little extra accuracy of it, but from watching Viking Airgunner, the 600mm sleeve will be a little short, I think he added 3 orings to correct the length on his DRS. That’s why I was thinking of getting a longer one and cutting it to the correct length, with a tiny gap on both ends. I use both strategies, the sleeve and a tensioner. On the newer models like the DRS the "shroud" already is tensioned from air pressure so there is no need to add more. The CF Sleeve on a DRS, I cannot say if it will improve much of anything but I would add one to mine. Even on the older models like the Impact and Maverick the sleeve shouldnt really improve accuracy, just help with poi shifting.
