I am new to PCP's and bought an M3 earlier this year. I am still learning the tuning process but have been able to get the gun to produce acceptable accuracy (1/2" or so groups @ 50 yards). What I am about to describe happens with both pellets and light slugs. The liner is a superior pellet liner, Speeds are as follows, 22. cal FX hybrids at 940 or so, and jumbo monster redesigned at 880.
The phenomenon that I am trying to make sense of is that when sighted in at 50 yards, closer shots are to the left as much as 3/4 inch at 20 yards. At 20 yards groups are ragged holes. When shooting beyond 50 yards the point of impact relative to windage seems to be at the 50 yard zero in that is does not start moving to the right (or left). There are naturally some elevation variations that can be accounted for by the scope height and drop at ranges beyond. This is happening indead calm conditions
I have dissembled the barrel down to the individual parts and checked the liner and outer tube for straightness. They had a slight amount of bow and I was able to easily get them to within .003" TIR and reassembled. I shot it after straightening without the shroud and result were the same, so reinstalled the shroud. I have tried to video the pellet and slug flight to see if it is spiraling and I have not been able to view it in slow motion. My plan at this time is to set a target every couple yards between 20 and 50 and see if I see evidence of spiraling.
Has anyone experienced this? Can you share the cause and maybe the fix?
Thanks, Two dogs
