FX Archery Chronograph vs. cheap Chinese chronograph.

I shot the FX Archery Chonograph simultaneously with the cheap Chinese chronograph. It was pretty messed-up looking, I should have taken a picture. Shots according to the FX were from 917 fps to 863 (80 shots, fell off the reg). The Chinese chrony thought the shots were slower by a little more than a percent.

Having the Chinese chrony around scared the FX into its best behavior; it didn't miss a shot.

Which Chinese chrony?

I have one of these and don't bother with my other chronographs. PVC tubing over the U bolt and some rubber inner tube glued to the V block to avoid gun finish damage.

A slightly newer version of yours. The text on the top is in both English and Chinese, and it will do FPS or m/s. I used a bunch of electrical tape to do the job that your tubing is doing. It was my second one - I dropped the first one and it went flaky on me.

Good to hear that the cheap chinese chronographs are accurate. My FX chrony was anything but reliable and finally gave up the ghost this year. I must have dropped it or something. I kept it in my old range bag. It would only record one of ten shots on average. Nothing worse than an unreliable chronograph!

I upgraded my range bag to a Savior and the chronograph to the Garmin. Both were huge upgrades.

Are you also into archery or did you try the FX Archery Chrono just to see what would happen? I see they are on sale...and I don't have a chrono yet, so just wondering if it were viable. I've read many bad reviews about the FX app.

I shoot my bow once in a great while. But I got the archery chrony because it was cheap. It's the exact same as a plain vanilla V1, with a different attachment.

The FX App is on the Apple/Google stores, and I think it's the same app for anyone who wants to use their phone. So if it sucks, it sucks for everybody. For the V1 and V2 chronographs, it's either your phone or FX's display device (see https://utahairguns.com/product/fx-digital-chronograph-display/ ), or one of the DIY displays we're messing with here in this forum. (see https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/homebrew-fx-chrony-display.1278760/ ). Note: the DIY one requires you to monkey with Arduino and various ESP32 devices.

Thank you very much! For $50, I'll give it a try.
