FX AMP Regulator on Crowns and Impact X (not all)

Some of us knew it, or have suspicion but now is official I guess:



...Generation 3 Impact X's (after Serial Number 183534) have the long (16mm) piston and large (10mm) housing (These are called AMP regulators)

Generation 2 Crowns (after Serial Number 180760) had the long (16mm) piston and the large (10mm) housing (These are called AMP regulators)...

The AMP regulators are able to be adjusted down without releasing pressure, but it is still recommended to fire at least 1 shot every 1/4 turn while adjusting down, to ensure nothing goes wrong.

So Check your serials!! mine (impact x) is 18351x damn! like 20 impact x behind!! :( re checked and guess have the old reg.
 
I'm with @Bob_O on this one. Mine is 183xxx, so I have the AMP regulator on my .22 Crown. I currently have it set to 135 bar, and if I put it in the gun safe, and take it out two weeks later, its still at 135 bar. No reason at all to "upgrade" to a Huma unless your current reg. starts creeping or acting up. Even then, take it apart, clean it up, replace the software and re-install it. Should be good to go. I'm not against Huma, I'm just against burning $$$ when it isn't necessary... ;)

You can send yours to Ernest to have it updated, I know it sucks sending a gun off but, may be worth considering as long as it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Hold on, so mine is a gen 3 according to that info (184xxx). When I spoke with Ernest, I had asked him about the AMP regs (to demystify some unrelated things), but he did mention that the AMPs were just designed to sit in the Dreamliners and Crowns in a different orientation. He didn't say that they were in the Impacts, so that is odd. 

Side question - I earlier videos, they were saying not to dry fire the Impact of pressure remained in the reg after unscrewing the air supply. CAN the Impact be dry fired if the reg gauge still shows full pressure? There are recent videos by FX sponsored YouTubers that are doing it and telling people to do so 👀

I have done it without problems, but since is safer to just grab an 2.5mm allen key, so I do that better. According to Ernest if you dry fire with low pressure, you can unseat the rear valve https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjLeO7O8DA0&t=4s (check min 1.20)

I think most of the times will be ok, but if it get unseated is a pain to disassemble and assemble it again, especially considering that you will need to seal test again. Maybe that has change on latest impact x versions? donno...
