FWB Sport my most accurate?

In spite of the noisy shot cycle, which really comes across after a session with the TX200, this gun is turning out to be surprisingly easy to shoot well. After sighting in the TX I decided to shoot a few with the FWB Sport to see how it would compare. I have only shot it scoped once before, but even without a lot of time with the gun I keep getting good groups, and without a lot of effort. About the only thing holding it back is the trigger force, which is a little high for best shooting with a springer. So if you will forgive my mistakes, I think this gun is showing a lot of promise, even in its stock configuration. Almost makes you think FWB knows what they are doing.

I have the older FWB 124D , and it out shoots just about any air rifle I have or had. The TX200 MK3 even , and the Anschutz 380 a little better. My Diana 54 Air King even , but better at longer distance. I picked up an Air Arms Pro-Elite that may be a touch better , time will tell. At 25 yards and closer , my Beeman R7 is also a close competitor. Some day I will have a HW97 , but it probably will be just a close shooter. I do have the HW35E , and it is also a winner.

I do have a scope on mine right now, the Nikon 3-9 EFR. It may be discontinued which would be too bad because it is a solid medium power airgun and rimfire scope. The mount is the BKL one piece with drop compensation. It has six screws at the rail connection and will definitely not slip. I lined the ring halves with friction tape to make sure there was no slippage there either, but it probably wasn't necessary. To use the open sights just loosen the six screws and slide the mount off the rail. When you put it back there will be no need to rezero, very solid mount.

I haven't done anything to tune mine yet since it is shooting well as is. I may get around to it some day. It is a mystery as to why they would put a 30 mm piston in a .177 cal. If they bring it out in .22 I would be tempted to get one just to see how it behaves in the larger caliber.

svbubba: I measured the cocking force on a bathroom scale and came up with about 40 pounds. As far as sound goes, this is no tuned gun. As you start to cock it the seal squeeks a bit, as you continue you can hear the spring being compressed, and when you fire there is a bit of hum at the end. Completely different from my two Vortek kitted guns. Those have only a little sliding sound when cocking, and all you hear is the muzzle report when you fire. Most springer fans would think the FWB would be a good candidate for a tune. I don't care too much as long as it shoots. I just consider it part of the gun's personality.

Big thank you......... 1 more ? ........who does tunes an a FWB Sport......... if i go that route

ARH has seals. And Duckfish had his tuned by Ed K. out of Texas. You might get specifics from him. If I were to attempt a tune, I would buy and fit the ARH seal and make my own tight fitting guide. The top hat is integral to the piston. I will probably do it some day. There is also a 7.5 J factory spring available, but I want to keep this gun at full power.

The Sport is a nice gun and I like mine a lot. But if I was to do it over again I would get a HW95 or R9.

Better trigger, same power more or less, easier cocking, parts are readily available, and most tuners can work on them. ARH and Vortek make kits if you want to put one in yourself.

thanks alot.....called ed k. today .........going to get hw95.....and a tune kit.........thx for all the Good information
