FWB 124

I have a FWB 124 Sporter in 177 that I've had since the early 80s. Just wondering if there is a following for these older springers.

Seriously, what you have is one of the best springers ever made. If it is in good condition you should make sure all the seals and internals are up to the task and shoot it endlessly!

I would actually be very interested if it is stamped Beeman from Santa Rosa. They aren't worth any more but I got my first airgun (HW-77) there and would like to pick up a few more from the same store that was near me when I first got bit!

I have an older 124. I fitted a Maccari soft tune kit. A really awesome shooter, that I am unlikely ever to sell.

I've had my FWB 124 for over 40 years. Even though I have over 60 airguns, I would not get rid of my 124. I still take it out fairly often to shoot.

I've got a near mint one with a Maccari kit in it. Stupidly accurate out to 40yds. Trigger is not as nice as a HW Rekord but other than that its probably the best break-barrel ever made.

I have one that I bought new in the late 70s. A few years ago, built a spring compressor and rebuilt the 124 with all new seals and put on a Maccari laminated stock, all parts from Air Rifle Headquarters. It is a treasured shooter.

I bought my FWB 124D from Air Gun Headquarters in 1979. Still have it , and had it rebuilt by Pomona Air Guns two years ago. Easy to cock ; 18 pounds. It is very accurate , and I changed out the old Bushnell scope for a Hawke Vantage 4 X 16 AO. I have three other air rifle , but it is still a great gun.

That was my first springer. Early 80's vintage with two rebuilds and I wouldn't sell it for anything less than an insane price! Those guns are as fun and easy to shoot and as accurate as anything they have ever made. Don't ever sell it or you will wish you hadn't. That's a promise! That thing has exterminated more pests than many have ever seen along with many "competition" shoots between my father, myself, brother and friends! Bill.

Thanks for all the replies. Its nice to know there are still those who appreciate the older FWBs. Fortunately, I have two 124s a sporter and a deluxe. This sporter I purchased new when just legal to buy a rifle. I sent it to Beeman in the late 90s to get Lazerized. Never had an issue until a few months ago when she suddenly started vertically stringing groups. The piston seal started breaking up so I replaced it with a new FWB seal. She's back to shooting dimes at 25 yds.

The reason I took it out to shoot last year was because a friend bought a PCP and raved how accurate and consistent. Yes, a good PCP is easier to shoot small precise groups but I think everyone should have another type of airgun not requiring a seperate air pump or tank. JMO.

That’s a very nice 124. The serial number of mine is 19xxx. It has the same stock as yours. Like you, I have fitted a barrel weight. Best wishes for wonderful shooting.
