Gamo makes as solid of a gun as Crosman (I own and shoot both), and I like the trigger and fit/finish of the Gamo better than the Crosman. Both of mine--with the right pellet, since they are both very pellet picky--are very good shooters; but neither shoot as laser-like accurate as my Weihrauchs. My Gamo took nearly 1,200 pellets to break-in; my Crosman, less than 300. Both can give me good results.
HIgh FPS air rifles can require a lot of practice and awareness of how you're holding the gun. Don't get frustrated; just practice. Start humbly at 10 yards and then keep extending out. Now, the quality of the pellet can really make the difference, so be sure to ask others what they're shooting. My .177 Swarm loves any pellet from 8.2-8.64. It hates anything less; I don't shoot anything over 8.80 given my context.
Have fun, be safe, and remember--your first gun is, just that.....!
