Fun day shooting ELR airguns

We were blessed with good weather yesterday, as Rod Java made an early morning trip from San Francisco to meet me at the SLOSA range Smallbore clubhouse. The adjacent ranges were busy, which limited our down range access to set targets. But we had an electronic indicator on a 223yd target and we also shot at a 421yd silhouette which gave audible hit feedback, when it was quiet enough on the adjacent ranges. Rod had brought his .257 Texan and Altaros M24 .25 caliber. I was especially impressed with Rod’s ability to connect frequently at 223yds and 421yds using the M24 shooting Ataros 60gr slugs at only 850?fps. I was having less success with my custom 7mm, until I realized that I was mistakenly using dope for my upcoming .308 build. Once I switched to my 7mm dope, all was well.

Rod and I are hoping to schedule periodic (maybe monthly) sessions, setup ahead of time, with paper and steel hit indicators out to 500yds and 500meters. I’m looking forward to it.
