Frustrating gun manufacturers!!!

This is the very reason I do not buy any gun that is not in stock, especially a new gun that they are taking pre-orders for. From what I have seen with new models, the wait times can be crazy and I have very little patience in waiting for something I really want. I would rather wait until they have been out for a while, the kinks worked out,and then buy one from someone who has them in stock. The price often tends to come down after they have been on the shelf for a while too, good luck with your wait, I hope it is worth it, Neil.

Although none of us buyers want to hear this the "problem" is FX has set the price too low. At this price point demand out strips their ability to manufacture. They should up the price until balance is achieved. They can later lower pricing as demand drops below their ability to build. The Wildcat has already been given a price increase in the U.S.
This would allow those who are willing to pay a higher price the ability to get it in a reasonable time frame.

"ztirffritz"The Marauder may be boring, but it works reliably, and was delivered in 7 days. It's no Impact, but it's in your hands and it slings lead.
I kinda agree... I have a couple Marauders. Both now modded by me. The .177 will shoot over 80 very consistent 20FPE shots, and the .25 now does 23 very consistent 46FPE shots. The .177 is a short range gun. Its fine from shot to shot, but I think it suffers from barrel wag. The .25 is consistent from day to day. The thing is I have about $400 in parts and several hours labor into the .177 and a lot more labor and a little more in parts into the .25. If I paid somebody to do the work they would be just as expensive as the more expensive guns. When I sprung for the Marauders I never expected them to be kit guns, but to get the results I wanted they are.

Then I ordered a Cricket .25. The first few magazines were a dream. I was amazed. Finally a gun with decent power and decent accuracy without any work... and then it sprung a leak... I sent it back for repair on the third day after I first shot it, and I am still waiting to shoot my gun again. LOL. The dealer has been pretty good at calling me and letting me know what's up, but its still pretty frustrating waiting on parts.

"Shipping was way expensive for UPS ground. over 50$, so they’re making some $ on that too. it should be under 30$."

May want to get "signature required" added or UPS will drop your $2,000 package in the middle of your lobby or your front porch for anyone to scoop it up. UPS dropped my box in the next (wrong) building's lobby which would have never happened if AOA would have asked me if I want a more secure way of shipping. I assumed that for $54 via UPS shipping I not only get an armed escort but also a case of beer with my delivery. Wrong...AOA said I should have asked for "signature required" because 90% of their customers prefer leaving a $2K rifle outside on their front porch or in the middle of the condo lobby.

AOA must have paid a pretty penny for that little monopoly.

Why we only get to hear about AOA's monopoly on certain brands? Can you order Evanix directly? Can you order Air Arms? Can you order Jkhan from any other dealer?

They all do it, and try to set up exclusive distribution channels, that Yes, hurt the very foundation of capitalism and healthy competition.

In AOA's defense I would say this. That they were there with FX and Daystate from the beginning when this business was tiny and nobody cared for it. So it is very understandable. But Why the newcomer air gun dealers that bitch about AOA's distribution do the same with virtually unknown brands is a big question on how nice of a guys they really are. Jealous Hippocrates to be exact.

The Wildcat has already been given a price increase in the U.S.

Bad decision. When this market crashes because of greedy dealers, then people like you will have to learn a new trade.

Given the current availability of guns, the Koreans and Turkish pups will out sell them. PCP's are not that expensive to make. We are talking under $100 each that is if they use premium barrels. The rest is just pennies given the current machinery. In China it costs under $20 to make a pcp say similar to P12. They then turn around and sell them for $200. So you see how it adds up :)

You can buy top of the line firearm, for the price some of these toys go for. So tell me where is the value here? This market will crash if they continue to pump out pcp's costing $1500 and up, charging as much as $1000 over what they are into them per gun.

Finally got the call from AOA….. after 5 months and three days

That is about the average wait for a DAQ or Edgun guns :). Give AOA a break man, they are a great dealer that have been around for a long time. They care about what they do and sell.

If the manufacturer is out of these guns because of high demand world wide and you can't wait, then just order something else to shoot for cheap while you are waiting so you don't get stressed out.

Anyone know how many Impacts have been delivered here in the US? I asked AOA and the number I was told sounded ridiculously low, considering how long the wait list is and how simple the manufacturing of this gun looks. Maybe FX should consider limiting the number of models they offer and concentrate on just a few, this would allow them to increase quality control and get more Impacts to market.

I'd guess a few hundred. We're a niche in a niche. There aren't many people shooting airguns in the US compared to firearms. And there are even fewer willing to drop $2k on a single gun, let alone an airgun. The profit margin on FX guns must be enormous. There's really very little different, from a manufacturing perspective, between an Impact and a Marauder. When one buys an Impact though you expect that it will work out of the box with no issues. As I've worked on my Marauder more and more I find that, though it works, the attention to details isn't overwhelmingly obvious. It's not that it's low quality, it's just the attention to little details like removing the metal shavings from the machining process, deburring edges, etc. I found metal shavings in the hammer chamber, lots of grease in places that seem odd to me, and just generally a lower standard. It isn't that Crosman can't make a gun as good as the Impact. It's that they can't do it for $450-$500 and remain profitable. Based on that, FX must be making a KILLING on their guns. They're good no doubt, but I still don't feel that they're $1400 better than my Marauder.

It is simple I don't buy any thing unless it is ready to ship. Bought a wildcat 22 was here in about three days. I will likely by a Impact later but not until some one has a 25cal black ready to put in the mail the day I pay for it. Also like to give the bugs time to get worked out. I had my wildcat before a lot of folks who were on waiting list to buy one. Don't know how that happened but called up a dealer ask him if he had one said I can pay in full if it will ship today. And it was on the way.
