Yesterday I saw a Daystate rifle review by Airguns of Michigan. His DIY front rifle rest caught my eye. Pretty simple, lightweight, instantly adjustable.
Not if there’s no means to mount a bipod, like a Daystate Huntsman, FX Crown, etc,An inexpensive bipod off ebay will do the same without being awkward to carry around. More versatility in the long run too.
Really ???Not if you don’t want to alter the gun.You can add a mount on all three you mention, just need to be very careful as not much wood to deal with. Use T-bolts for the anchors a 3/16th drill bit and a wood bit to cut the recess on the underside. Works great for me.
My one club has a couple of those in the range box with the sandbagsYesterday I saw a Daystate rifle review by Airguns of Michigan. His DIY front rifle rest caught my eye. Pretty simple, lightweight, instantly adjustable.

Gotcha. My Royale & Boss came with no rail either. I added a pic rail to both on the forestocks. Worked like a charm. Not if there’s no means to mount a bipod, like a Daystate Huntsman, FX Crown, etc,
I can never hold on to anything very long. I don’t drill holes or alter a gun in any way that might affect a future sale. The pictured DIY rest works perfectly with my crown and day state huntsman. I have a Daystate Wolverine arriving Tuesday that will fit that rest as well. I do have the K&L bottle clamp with pic rail if I want to use a bipod.Gotcha. My Royale & Boss came with no rail either. When I first started out I built all manner of stuff out of wood in the interest of saving $. It ALL worked fine til I replaced it with other stuff.I can never hold on to anything very long. That’s an interesting sandbag. I recently bought a Crosstac high sandbag. A little taller than I expected but I think it will do. Very well made. From bottom to where the rifle lays, it’s 8”. Would be ideal with AR with a 30rnd magazine.I put the 60mm clamp on my Wolverine air tank and used my bipod to sight it in, but I don't think it is a long-term solution. I went ahead and got one of these for more "at rest" shooting: https://www.sandbagstore.com/sandbag-rifle-rest-woodland.html?viewfullsite=1 I'll update on it's use once it comes in.
Much agreed. When I was scuba diving I was always making gadgets for in and out of the water. Airguns leads to a lot of related gadgets too. To me, a hobby that captivates as much of my time as possible is the icing on the cake. There’s actually doing the hobby, like shooting the rifle, then there’s maintenance, reading about the hobby, making gadgets and then socializing with fellow hobbyist. Probably why my wife says my hobbies are addictions. Keeps me out of the bars though. For some folks making useful items give great satisfaction. I know there's not a problem that you can't throw money at but not all work as well.
I make things not only to save money { I don't have much} but to make it do just what I need not what somebody thinksI need.
Maybe this would be a much better product if you bought it from a fancy dealer and it had a big brand on it.
I will be making one of these in the future cause I think it's a great idea
