I bought this 22 hw95 Field Pro three or four "my last" airguns ago. The gun was in excellent condition, I liked the weighted sightless carbine barrel and the price was right. So I bought it. Long story short, after much diagnosis this particular 22 barrel shoots about 1.5 fpe low on power. The reason I bought the gun.

A while ago I installed a 20 cal long barrel. Took it out yesterday and it twanged so bad I put it away. Today installed a fresh spring kit and topped it off with a new Sightron 3-9x40 mildot non AO scope.

Man this thing is nice now! Shoots smooth and like most 20 cal Weihrauchs. Accurately. I love this scope. It's perfect for my purposes.

Once in while you can actually make lemonade from lemons.

The barrel was a new replacement barrel from AoA.

Here's today's 50 yard ten shot groups. Ignore the shot dead center I used the wrong mildot
Top row is FTT
Bottom row is JSB 13.73.

This was a freshly opened tin of JSBs and it's not as good as yesterday's from a different lot. Yesterday's printed better than todays FTTs. That's the problem with JSB. They vary more tin to tin then H&N or RWS. I have plenty of tins from this lot so hopefully my R9 or 98 like them better than this rifle.

It's a traditional style kit I had Tom at Vortek make me instead of a PG4 steel kit.

I only had 2 tins of the FTTs left so I just ordered a dozen more. I may still wind up sorting tins by lot number. I've marked specific lots or even individual tins with the guns they work well with. I refuse to sort individual pellets. Life's too short for that.

I'll buy H&N tins 20 at a time because of my confidence in them. JSBs I restrict to ten tins at a time. There not much worse than getting 20 tins of pellets that only work well in one rifle. Getting the AA branded JSBs and 4.53 sized JSBs is pretty safe bet though.

Did AOA list the .20 cal barrel for sale, or did you have to call and request it? When I bought my R9 from PA some years back I got it in .177 because Beeman branded HWs were very scarce at the time, and no one had .22. But PA offered the old style .22 barrel with the muzzle weight (back ordered at the time) so I got on the waiting list. Used .177 to break it in, but it was shooting so erratically that I finally broke it apart and discovered the piston seal was "cooked". Replaced with Vortek PG4 and their moly piston seal, and it turned in to quite a shooter in either caliber. But I have always had a hankering for a .20

Call Shane at AOA (ext 150) and ask him if he has a barrel for you. He's a good guy. Tell him Ron Stearns sent you. I recommend getting a cocking arm and rivet too.

Also by time you get those parts you'll be near half the cost of a 20 cal hw95

Shane is who did my 95s warranty work, and it came back smooth as glass.
I haven't got the perfect group with it, but man it challenges me. Getting them in the bullseye would be nice.

I don't believe Shane does the actual warranty work. He's the go between. The guy who does (or at least used to do) the actual work there is a hell of a good guy with a very bad speech impediment. It's near impossible to get him on the phone. Shane manages the warranty work and is the voice for the other gentleman who's name unfortunately eludes me.

It's near impossible to get him on the phone. Shane manages the warranty work and is the voice for the other gentleman who's name unfortunately eludes me.
