Batteries dead again. So, gently pulled the gauge out, wham, got hit like many others reported. The display was now in several separate pieces with two button batteries somewhere in the motor housing. Pulled motor cover off then fished both button batteries out with a magnet.

Using my favorite tweaking tool, all is back together and working. I broke off both end tabs and used thick material on ends of display to allow easy removal in the future.

External mounting, like many of you pictured, in the works down the road. Cheers

Biohazardman straightened me out about batteries, was using short-lived L44s, he said #357 is much better choice. My set-up requires remote mounting, using Velcro to hold in place makes changing batteries easier. WM

LOL, I had to REMOVE to cover to FIND the batteries! This thing came apart in my hand...in several pieces, guess I was not clear? But yes, those tabs are history

I had that happen. The whole thing fell apart in several pieces with batteries down inside the cover. I cut the tabs off the new one that went in. I also picked up some of the 357 batteries.

My mind just could not rely measuring the Temp in a single point on the cylinder (at the middle of an engine) and years ago I got myself a dual thermocouple thermometer. Later on I needed another thermometer for my 3d resin printer, so got one touchless, and this one became my all around favourite.

I replaced mine with a 5v fahrenheit gauge and power it with a cellphone charger, wired into the YH power switch. And, like bigHUN, I also monitor with an IR temp gun.
