Fourth squirrel with my P35-177

I've had trouble finding targets this squirrel season. The leaves are still on the trees and we haven't had much cold weather. I had one visiting my oaks nearly every afternoon late but it kept running off without giving me a shot. Today my rescue hound, Cola, told me she saw one and I got the 177 out of the coffee table and let her out. I saw a squirrel run up a large oak and started trying to find it. This time it sat in crotch of the tree around 50 feet up. I shot for the shoulder and hit it but the angle of the squirrel and the shot were such that the pellet went up the neck and stopped under the hide under the eye on the other side. The squirrel dropped immediately. 17 ounce female.

I was shooting H&N Baracuda 10.65 grain. It shoots Baracuda Match a little better but I bought these by mistake and they are still pretty accurate. It also shoots Baracuda Power well (copper plated) and a couple tins of those will be next. Then I'll stock up on 4.52 Baracuda Match. The difference between all these pellets is maybe 10 points on the 30 yard challenge and pretty insignificant shooting squirrels off hand (like this one) or slightly supported field positions. The first tin of Crosman 10.5s shot very well too but the next two have a huge range of head size and do not shoot nearly as well. I did not try 8 grain pellets in it because it is shooting the 10.6 grain at about 900 fps.

I added a picture of the other side of the squirrel. If you look under the eye you can see a bulge made by the pellet as it exited the skull. If you magnify the first picture you can see a spot of blood on the top of the shoulder where it entered. The pellet got pretty chewed up breaking the shoulder, passing through the neck and then the skull.
