The female QD coupling on my HPA fill hose has gotten to be difficult to attach and release. The spring loaded collar doesn't want to snap shut. I've tried putting some silicone grease on the gun's male fitting, which seems to help temporarily. What is the cause of this difficulty?

I had the same issue with a similar HPA connector, in my case a few of the small ball bearings in the spring loaded collar were missing.

Check the female end for debris. If the male end can't go in far enough the bearings won't align properly with the groove.

If I need to replace the fitting, do you have any recommendations? I find them on Amazon for $10-25.

i messed with alot of them .. the last one i sprung for was an FX brand .. definitely a cut above your everyday bargain site stuff .. so my consensus is dont skimp you only need so many and i do recommend those without hesitation ..

Please check the condition of the balls on the female disconnect as well as the fitting on the gun where the balls would ride up against for wear marks. If you see any unevenness do not use anymore until replaced.

@daveT1, the fitting would eventually fail and release under high pressure, injuring you or anyone nearby. HPA demands safety, good fittings are mandatory, not optional.

As LLeon stated.... Hit the link below, then scroll down page 2 for the gory pictures if photos help paint the picture, basically the balls would roll over the fitting and break possibly releasing the grip on the fitting and whip the hose about hitting whatever in its path as the air escapes.

So i decided to take a look a one of my test plugs I used to check for leaks on my automated hand pumps...
Yep I think if I use that anymore it will be just to keep dust out of the hose!
