For those of you who use an app

Calculate what? Holdover values?

For holdover:

You need to know your FPS, sight height (scope to barrel), ballistic coefficient of pellet used, pellet weight, just to start in order to get a range chart/holdover chart.

If you don't have a chrono, you can do it manually. Get a rangefinder or some way to measure distance correctly, then set your target up at 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 yards, shoot a 3-shot group at each distance from the same location, and measure the pellet drop and see where that matches your scope hash-marks to figure out holdover values. It's a bit more cumbersome, but it works well.

Hope this is what you're asking about, because I'm guessing.

I'm not certain but I think the Chrono Connect Mobile app calculates fps by sound, that means you should be shooting at something made of metal like a plate or metal spinners or something along those lines that makes noise when hit especially at longer distances. There is a free "lite" version of the app out there, might be worth a shot.(pun intended)
