For hunting purposes, same Cal, same weight, slug or JSB Hades?

Welp, I was just at the end of my Hades tin in .25 so I decided I'd give a go at some of my H&N slugs. They are .249 @ 28 grain and I must say I am CHUFFED!

They shot twice as hood as the Hades and all but 2 today were DRT. Other 2 were wing clips that I dispatched with a follow up. My bad, not the gun or slugs.

I will say this however, I can't tell the difference in slugs to Hades on sparrow or starling. They seem to stop in their tracks no matter what it is if they are hit square.

For the performance though, I'd pay more for these slugs. They shoot AWESOME in my flashpup

Last squirrel season I first took my Impact shooting 25 caliber 26gr slugs going 935fps. Decided all shots were going to be under 50 and I was doing front shoulder shots. I think I only recovered 1 out of 3. The two I didn’t recover I blew them out of the tree but they got away. Next trip I took my P15 shooting Hades .25 at maybe 910fps. All squirrels fell from the trees and laid dead. Plus I dropped a opossum dead in its tracks. All shoulder shots. Left me scratching my head. But it is what it is and I find nothing magical about a JSB with some dents in the dome. The only thing I can figure is the pellets just delivered everything they had into the squirrels at the speed and distance I was shooting.

It definitely depends on which slugs you are shooting because all slugs are not created equal! If your gun can shoot them accurately, I certainly recommend shooting the FX Hybrid Slugs.

What separates the Hybrid Slugs from all other slugs is the amount of damage they deliver on targets that are close up, or far away. I know this video says it was at 44 yards, but I took another range to the target today and it was 66 yards away. At the muzzle, the Hades and Hybrid Slugs both deliver 85fpe from my FX Maverick VP .30cal. But at 66 yards, away, the Hades delivers 42fpe at the target, while the FX Hybrid Slugs deliver 68fpe.

Recovered slug at full pass-through 66 yards. Next to a .30cal and .357cal Hybrid Slug for comparison.

Here is a much shorter distance shot from the same airgun with the same velocity, and it still got great expansion.

Recovered slug at full pass-through, 28 yards on a much smaller groundhog.

Many slugs look like they weren't even shot at eith one of these distances because they simply don't expand. This is where the Hybrid Slugs can beat most other slugs that need very high velocities in order to expand properly, but in both these shots they were traveling at 930fps.
