fix mag with adjustable parallax?

so doing some research on recommended, I'm leaning towards the SWFA: http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-10x42M-Tactical-Riflescope-P53713.aspx

It has pretty much everything I'm looking for and I think made in Japan, doesn't say on their website but reviewers say so. Still need to do more research into it and other scopes as well. Yes cost is a major factor but I want to get some quality too, best bang for the buck...

So I think I narrowed it down to a SWFA with MIL Quad and MIL turrets.

Not sure if I want the side or rear parallax adjust. My current scope 4-14x42 is the first with a parallax adjustment, has it on the side. So I hear that a side knob is more course then a front/rear. Is this cause it is just a smaller knob, then wouldn't a larger side wheel make it finer....or is it feel or range of rotation?

So the other thing I was wondering is magnification. SWFA comes in a 10x, 12x, and 16x. This scope will end up on my Mutant Short for hunting. The plan is to be mostly in the 50yd/meter range, probably what zero will be, but maybe down to 10meters and really no more then 100meters. I need to play around with my 4-14x42 in the 10-14 range to get a better feel. I really have virtually no experience with scopes, or at least anything more then a cheap $20 4x magnification from Wally World. My 4-14x magnification I just got this summer and find that I really only leave it on the larger end of magnification, just need to figure out what I like. What magnification do y'all find you like and why?

For me personally I like the 10x . The milquad Is a very fine crosshair and you can aim real precisely. As you increase power in the SWFA line you start loosing brightness. It's not bad but when you look thru them back to back it is noticeable. There is almost NO noticeable difference in the 10 and 12 power , but the 16 starts getting a little shady and the 20 is hard to use unless your at an open shooting range .
Where I live it's pretty much heavy timber so brightness means a lot . I have owned all of them from the 6 to the 20 power . The 10 is my favorite. Good magnification and good fuel of view .
But guys who live in more open country would probably pick a slightly higher power one.
I have a 6 power on my crossbow and it kicks ass !
