First trip out for rats with the Leshiy 2

That remind me of my first DIY setup, though i just had 1 IR emitter,,,,,, A 10 Watt one that i could / can focus, just one downside it is a heavy SOB light source.

But back then camera image sensors was not so sensitive so you needed a lot of light thrown out there

If anyone are interested a good low light sensor today ( found in many a dashcam ) is the Sony IMX 291 ( 1080p sensor ) a 1440p alternative could be the IMX 335 now also found in a lot of dashcams.

Back then i used SD resolution sensors, also Sony but ones called effio - e

Hope you dont mind the thread flex.

Some old scope cam using a camcorder, i shoot a green airsoft pellet on 12 M or so ( 2012 ) , and then old night time shooting testing my first DIY rig on 20 M or so, thats filmed a couple of years later.

No judgment especially if it works for your needs. That's your rifle and who am I to criticize what works for you!

Awesome shooting to get rid of those nasty little jokers...

Thanks very much!

Thanks for posting.

That was fun to watch

I kept pressing 4 over and over*

7, 8 and 9 are good too.

* Number pad on a full size keyboard will take you to points in a Youtube video.

Not sure if it works on a phone.

Thanks Matt I'll have to try that out.

Excellent! Much fun!

Much appreciated 👍

Yeah they've come a long ways, I used to use a nitesite ns50 that got me hooked on using a monitor for night action. Thanks for watching.

Glem,

Looks like the lishiy 2 is working out for you. What a great choice in that rat infested environment. I have watched a few of your rat videos and think you have done a great job! The leshiy 2 tends to be a bit loud, but the rats don't seem to be overly bothered by it or have you modified it.

Cheers

.

Thanks Houli, I just detuned it a bit and put like a 3mm or so power puck in to try and quiet it down a bit. Definitely barks a bit.

I was thinking, boy that little thing has got a serious bark to it! Then I remembered where you were at. Duh. 🤣

Im going to have to try the tripod setup again. What tripod and head do you have?

Allen

And this is only at 20fpe! At full power with the big hole puck it sounds like a .22lr.

The tripod is a CF one from aliexpress was about 90usd and am super impressed with the light weight and quality of it. Ballhead is an Artcise LB52, the bigger the ball the better for heavy/off balance items. Went through a couple smaller ones before realizing that size does matter for a free standing tripod. For a table top one its not as important.

That rat shooting was fun to watch.

Thanks for watching bud.
