First time Springer Buyers. Please listen

You can get a great German Springer for 200.00 bucks at Christmas time. Diana 34P. Broke in with 200 cheepo pellets. Then started shooting groups with HN Ftt's can do dimes all day long at 25 yards. Easy cheesy! Start out with something like this and save yourself some frustration and start out loving this sport!

Excellent advice shawnlyndy ! The Diana 34 cannot be beat for the price. It's a well built German made springer that will last longer than you if taken care of. Excellent accuracy and very easily maintained and tunable. And at the price a 34 classic ( or the 34P) goes for these days, its the best deal available in my opinion. I have two of them in .22 and they are accurate target guns and very capable hunting springers. A couple of pics below of my most used D34 Classic. I still shoot this 34 regularly and will not part with either of them.

H&N makes excellent pellets I shoot them in all my Break barrels. May need to buy one of these rifles in .22

Yes H&N makes really good pellets. The pellet that my 34 likes the best are the H&N FTT 14.66 gr in the 5.53 head size. I have tried many different pellets and these seem to be the most accurate and very consistent. I don't even experiment with them any more......the 34 likes them.

You have captured my interest shawnlyndy

It's time for a good springer!

My shooting needs to be very backyard quiet

As an open sights shooter what would be the best way to add a moderator without losing the front sight?

Thanks

Ed

On Christmas day 49 years ago, my Dad was stationed at Ramstein AFB in Germany. Guess what I had under the tree, a brand new Diana springer! That was hot stuff back then! At that moment I was as happy as a kid gets! Must of been the predecessor to the 34 but I don't remember the model number. My Dad couldn't have made a better choice.

It's been like 3 Gamo's now that beginners bought and brought over to my house for advice because they shot like crap, just sayin...

I'd recommend a Walther Parrus. The muzzle is threaded with 1/2x20 UNF threads. So, its easy to attach a sound moderator, air stripper, whatever.

Also, its in the same price range as the Diana 34 and in some places even cheaper. I'll put the Walther Parrus in the list of excellent choices for a first time springer buyer.
