First Pest Squirrel in Wisconsin to fall to a .25 cal FX Hybrid Slug?

The box came from Pyramyd Air yesterday, and the first opportunity to take a pest squirrel out off one of my feeders came this morning.

I cannot complain about the accuracy at 28 yards, and the terminal performance was superb. Big exit, and internals blown back out the entry hole. I only wish I could have found the slug after it exited.

Shooting at 748 FPS from the 380mm barrel with a pellet liner.

Nice shooting. Can you elaborate on your tune? For comparison what speed are you shooting 25.4gr pellets with the same setup. 750fps seems a bit slow but if they group well that’s what matters.
I’m hoping I can get my .25 Crown 380mm to shoot light weight slugs. I can get the 25.4gr pellets to a little over 900fps currently. I’m wondering how much speed you lose when shooting the Hybrids.

Any idea at what speed these Hybrids stop opening up? The much improved BC (over pellets) should help offset some of that speed loss but If you can’t get them to expand then I guess there just really expensive pellets.

I'm at 108 bar on the regulator, shooting the JSB 25.39 grain pellets at 758 FPS.

It's too early to tell what the expansion will be like at different velocities...mostly because I haven't had the time yet to play with them. In this case I think it expanded all the way. I wish I could have found that slug. I looked, but it was a needle in a haystack.

Thanks.
Looks like you didn’t lose much speed at all. That’s good to hear. I was afraid your gun was at close to stock setting 145-150 bar w/25.4’s at 850fps and you we’re losing a 100 fps.

Hopefully my current tune will allow me to test at a few different speeds. Seems like everyone is have good results but at speeds 900+ which I don’t think is going to happen with the short 380mm

I plan on waiting for a Superior liner before I dive to deep in the slugs.

I’d love to see some groups if you get a chance to put them on paper.
