Clearly the same action, mag, fill probe, cylinder ... Not sure what they did to the barrel though. Not sure either if one could call it improved ... I prefer an unregulated gun with a balanced valve like the Gamo Urban or the Kral Puncher over one with a cheap & unreliable Chinese regulator. Would rather buy an unregulated pr900w and install a true and tested reg brand such as Altaros, Lane, Audrius or even the overpriced HuMa. Real consistency, accuracy, and shotcount despite the small cylinder, which then becomes an asset. Just my honest opinion ...

Agree totally. It certainly appears to be SPA built. Personally, that is OK with me. I have two, both a gen 1 and a gen 2, and they work well for the price. I believe it is much lighter than the Avenger touted above which could be a large consideration for a carry gun. It is small and light, easy to handle. The small cylinder size is fillable with a hand pump. The gen 1 trigger is fine (after some work admittedly) and the gen 2 trigger is better still. It is more than accurate enough for pesting or small game and has power to spare for that use. Are there better rifles? Certainly. I have a bunch of them. But these are not as bad as some people seem to want people to believe. All IMHO of course.

Awhile back in this thread I sung the praises of the Benjamin Maximus 22 as an excellent first pcp

That's a lot of gun for the money, especially considering that a very effective moderator can be had for $28 here

The Maximus is a superb unregulated econogun only 2000psi fill here's my fully modded truck gun! Cranked up nickel sized groups at 80 yards (no joke!) and backed down its got lots of shots and quiet as a mouse's fart!

First I ask two questions, why did you choose PCP instead of spring gun？

How do you calculate your budget？

The first question is that your choice haven’t much better than spring gun about power.accuracy need lucky. Because when spa made this gun.They are in the 15-meter quality inspection, so the qualified range is relatively large, some have good accuracy and some have poor accuracy.my friend have two. One group @50 yards about 1.5 inches. Another one is 3inches. Its need luck. 

Therefore, compared with the spring gun, there is no level improvement in accuracy and power.

Second question, budget. Don’t think that the PCP of 179 USD is half of the 350 USD one！

Because once you start playing PCP inflatable equipment, riflescope, more expensive pellet ........, you need to spend these money!

It is unwise to save one hundred dollars on the gun after adding these parts.The 900 and 1000 dollars guns may be similar, but the difference between 200 and 300 is very big.

think about it my friend! I have played hundreds of PCPs in the past 20 years and finally found out that my friends who wanted to save too much money ended up spending more money.

I don’t recommend buying a PCP less than $300.

This is just my personal opinion

What I said may not be suitable for you, everyone needs different.

Some people need a small voice, some people don’t care about the voice, but need great power. Some people need long range shooting . So I suggest you consider what your purpose is ? Then go to select gun.

Otherwise, the guns praised by other people may not be satisfied with you. only guns that achieve your goals are good guns.

I own a Maximus and vouch for their accuracy. Got mine from Kittery trading post with the same deal Yo mentions on the Stormrider. I added a Challenger trigger and a Geo LDC With a Hawke 2-7x32 scope the gun weighs 6lb 13oz.

This is follow up to your response to my PM stating that questions are preferred in The Forum rather than in a PM, so that all can benefit from the answer



I'd like to learn what you have done with your Maximus to achieve that range of power

Anything you can tell me is helpful, especially regarding which hammer spring you are using with the power adjuster, transfer port size, and any other details

I'll assume the accuracy at 80 yards to simply be an indication of how much better a shot you are than I am

Especially if done with open sights (my preference)

How accurate is it with slugs? I have a Gen 2 but have not tried it with them yet! I use the JSB EXAT JUMBO EXPRESS DIABO 13.35 GR. They seem to be the most accurate. I have tried the 13.45(OK but not as good), Crossman 14.3 Premier Hollow Point (Not as good and a few flyers) and the Crossman Domed Ultra Magnum (not very good). I was just wondering if anyone had tried them.
