First mouse at the house

Generally don't see them here but I set out my dead grackle at the bait station hoping for a raccoon to stop by this evening. Kept shining my scoped mounted torch every so often. Seen 2 small red eyes and at first thought it was the dead grackle but I realized they were moving.

This mouse was all over the place! It finally settled in, I guess eating on the grackle, and I sent a 25 polymag with 38 fpe down to the 40 yard kill zone from my mega shortie I built.

Guess I'll just leave it there for bait as well! Never seen a field mouse this color either... Hopefully I didn't kill little Susie's pet mouse!

38 fpe polymag a wee bit of a overkill. Did it expand enough to blow out the guts? I have some of these pellets haven't used any on pest yet. Their accuracy in my guns are less then JSB kings, or MK2. For small pest I'm using my 0.177 does the job if you hit the right spot. I save the 0.25 for coons.
Definitely overkill. I hit it forward facing and hit the right shoulder so it didn't get into the body cavity. Only used the 25 polymag since thats what it's sighted with and for the coons.

well done !
i've just added a bait station in my bird feeder area.
i have seen rat turds around the feeders but never seen any rats.
i loaded it up with a big smear of pnut-butter.
hope i get some takers...... :sneaky:
I haven't seen anymore, but did have a coon hanging in the tree for a couple hours then finally left. Hoped he'd come for the tuna I set out, but he was on to me. I could've shot him in the tree, but I didn't feel like crawling through the brush at 11pm to collect him. Neighbors might wonder what they hell I'm doing lol.

Mice are the funnest things I’ve ever hunted. No guilt or remorse. They are how I test all my guns for grab and shoot consistency. My closest mouse hot spot is 32 yards. The farthest mouse hot spot is 59-61 yards. If a gun can be grabbed and knock off a mouse at 60 with its first shot, it gets my stamp of approval to go hunt game animals with. I just took this one last night at 32 yards with a .30 Hades out of my AEA HP. Though the gun is unregulated, it’s not first shot mouse accurate. It takes one shot to free up the sticky China valve. This mouse got a sticky valve warning shot. When it returned it got dead.
