First impression on the Crosman 2240

Bought a 2240 as an impulse buy and it arrived today. I have to say, it is accurate and I'm sure it can do better than what I've done so far. Big thing about this, the stock sights and how you adjust them is terrible. I have a much better appreciation of the builds that I've seen on this and other forums, to get it to where it can be. Next step for me is to start searching Amazon and the other places to do the best budget build I can :)

I have taken many backyard squirrels with a stock 1377. The stock sights take a bit of work to use well, and the plastic breech can leave the barrel a little wobbly. After a few years, my eyes required I do something better. A steel breech with a Tasco red dot sight (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UI0VE2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and I still giggle when I use this. I paid half as much for the red dot last year. It hasn't lost zero since I set it several batteries ago. It is my current 10 yd sniping gun. Cannot remember if this is a 5 or 7 yard group.

Well, here's the solution so far. Probably not the permanent one, but, I could throw it together with what I had sitting around, except for the Crosman mounts that I got off of Amazon for next to nothing and delivered overnight :) Was tempted to throw a red dot on it, but the only spare I have that would work is scheduled to go on a .22LR Buck Mark UFX that I'm picking up on Monday. Do need some practice with it or change it up. Target is the last 27 shots where you can see where it's technically a long eye relief scope, but not long enough, and the power really droped off for the last 6 shots. Shot at 25ft, 2 handed.

The AGNATION code worked for me when I bought a steel breech for my 1322 a few months back-buy from Crosman's website and add the code at checkout. Not sure if it's still going, but there was free shipping on Fridays as well. It did take me a while to get used to the extra weight-the steel breech is heftier than the plastic one.

Another mod you can try is to remove the trigger spring, slide it onto a Phillips screwdriver to keep it straight and squash it down to make it shorter, then reinstall. This will lighten the trigger pull, but test to make sure the sear engages and the gun won't bump fire. It worked well for me.
