First ground squirrel of the year for me

It is a nice sunny day and look what showed up to catch some rays on a pile of logs behind my home shooting range.

30 yard shot with my .25 crown shooting NSA 26.8 gr. slugs. Went in at his neck/lower jaw area and passed through leaving a ragged exit wound, rather graphic to post. I used my bipod resting on a log to keep this unsteady 70 year old on target. I will get several more a month until the cold and snow return.

Good luck with your pesting, stay healthy and safe,

Arrowhead1951,

CLASSIC, shot off a pile of logs, and several of mine were in log piles as well. I was GS hunting when you posted this yesterday.

They love the log piles, cut wood rounds, and in my case airplane fuselages in a wrecking yard for planes.

The slug shot, as you describe it, was I suspect a 'game over' and not much wiggling. The "ragged hole" is what I'd like to see!
