I picked up a Daystate high power this week, the regulated wolverine R. It is a beautiful rifle. The trigger is now awesome. Surprisingly it doesn’t shoot the 25 grain re-designs as consistently as I would like. Every once in a while,approximately every 10 shots, it throws a shot an inch low. 


Just for fun I tried some 18 grain JSBs. I had some old silver tin, which are magic. Anyway, it absolutely loves them. I did not run them over my Crony but I have to believe since it’s shooting the 25 grains around 900, that the 18 grains must be blasting out there around 950+. I have previously never had much luck with 18 grain pellets at that kind of high speed.

Check out my results, I was quite pleased. Of course it was almost dead calm. But what better day to shoot a new rifle on?

I really enjoyed this format, it is definitely a challenge.

Hey Flintsack,

I remember when the Siver & Black tins first came out.

Something I've been wondering is if EDgun or FX brand 18's are anywhere as good as those original JSB's. 
You remember when the package changed & they swore nothing else did; but everyone saw a change in performance. I don't think anyone said they were better.

So if you get some of the newer mold EDgun or FX, I'd be interested in hearing your respected view on them in comparison to the old originals, and common new JSB's.

Your flyers could just be a new barrel needing to lead up. Did you look at each & everyone to possibly decipher why the flyers occurred?

Where they by any chance flying off from the same mag chamber?

You know what to look for, more than I or most people.

I've been following you for along time as your springer groups proved long ago that you're a great shootist.

I don’t use magazines ever. Other than in my Steyr when I’m trying to hunt crow.

if you find old enough remarketed JSB 18’s, they should be exactly like the one sold by JSB at the time. I have some old air air arms JSB pellets, that shoot better than anything else I’ve ever found. For years I collected different diameters in different weights. I have lots of different pellets to try in each individual rifle to shoot a magic group. 


Of course when you’re competing, you need to get a big lot that are all the same. Different problem to solve.

This ultimate BR thing Is more difficult than it looks.

This is the Mike T that shot with you at nationals the first day. Lol, when my side wheel fell off on the first lane. And you guys convinced me to shoot anyway, with no side wheel. I was absolutely devastated.


that was a day I will never forget, and treasure. Even though it blew away my goal of being on the podium at nationals. Placing eighth with no side wheel...was cool

Hi Mike, I recognized who you were. Yes, glad you stuck with it the first day.

I think you are going to find that if you cannot shoot the heavier pellets well, you will have a very small chance of success at 100 among others that can shoot the heavier pellets well. You may shoot some good scores in light wind, but it will be very, very difficult to replicate those scores once the wind is up a bit.
