First day out with the new Paradigm .30 100 yards and a bench rest card

Well, she is dialed in and devastating.

This rifle is a monster. I fine tuned it to fit me , figured out the proper hold for this heavy hitter. Shot a few groups that made laugh maniacly and then shot a 100 yard bench rest card (only have 1 mag right now to so had to load twice in that card) in 5 minutes (maybe lol) out of 30, really need to learn to use the whole clock.

Anyways, unsorted ammo, 855 fps jsb 44.8, (faster isn't always better 😉)

I counted 224 or 228 but I guess if they use a .35 scorer it's a 233 so I'm told.

This thing is a performer and in my hands it's going to do some serious work.

Absolutely in love, the @americanairarmsofficial Evol Paradigm .30 is absolutely fantastic.

Thanks guys!

This rifle will never see a slug. It really doesn't need to. Slugs to me, are more or less a fad UNLESS you have a purpose for them. A pellet is far more forgiving imo out to 100 yards , but for prs a slug is a better choice due to less hold overs etc due to retained energy.

With that said though,

I am starting to do research on my next A A A platform for prs and which likes slugs the best. I've been told the Tac .30 loves hybrids and the Tac .22 loves light nsa or h&n 23/25 gr hmmm

IMO - if you've got the funds, wait for the new HPS223 which will have it's own custom slug with it. I've heard from a few who have shot it that it's pretty amazing.

I have also heard this , I also heard there will be larger calibers as well but cant confirm. I just hope it comes out with enough time to practice and become familiar. If it does, I will be on board with buying one 200%

Do you think you think you'll be sticking with the JSB 44gr or trying out the 50gr, JTS 45gr or Zans for comparison?

Also - out of curiosity. When you have a moment I'd be very curious to see how a group does with a more common bipod versus the 4lb beast. I've been looking for something to tame the muzzle flip on a few bench guns and this might be an effective option.

I can absolutely do some comparisons between the anvil and my accutac br4, the anvil is amazing though but it still doesn't make it so I don't have to have a strong hold on the rifle.

I will be sticking with the 44s, I'm gunna see how others fair using the plenum upgrades coming and the zans but for now these fly so well and the spin my steel spinners with FORCE at one hundred.

I honestly believe, before you commit to the 44's, you owe it to yourself to run the Zan's at some different speeds. They have a significantly higher bc, which at 100y could save you points on target in the wind, the difference between winning and losing. Make sure now, early on, that the 44's really shoot better. Shoot them both on a windy day and see what happens. The wind is usually the biggest factor, everybody pretty much shows up with an accurate gun. I have noticed that a lot of matches have been won by the Zan's since their release. The Paradigm really likes them too.

Marc I will give them a go once I see others getting good results, the rifle performs really well right now so I really would prefer not to mess with it. I have heard good and bad about the BR 30, they are very tune picky and rifle specific from what I am told. I know Tom has gotten great results from his postings in the other thread on the competing site but I need to see some more.

235!!

I hereby kick your butt out of Sportsman Class at NAC!

Seriously, awesome shooting with that .30.

As far as the time, I feel shooting is just like throwing darts, serving a tennis ball, etc - staying in rhythm is the most important thing to shooting well.

You try to deliberately slow down, you can disrupt tour natural rhythm - its like standing over a putt too long.

So unless the wind is constantly changing and you need to reevaluate for each shot, I’d stay shooting at your natural pace.

Ed, I had already planned on registering pro after shooting NAC, after shooting a huben on the bench I knew if I had something more oriented for that task I could accomplish a lot. Thank you very much for the kind words! I also thought about the using the whole clock possibly throwing off my natural rhythm , I guess I just need to get out and practice more and get that rhythm down pat!

Great shooting, and smart decision to stick with the 44s. As I've said for years, accuracy trumps all else. You shoot like that at any of the big 100Y BR competitions, and you're a winner. Except for this last RMAC with ZERO wind, 233 will get you a winner, winner big chicken dinner 99% of the time! Gorgeous stock also, which scope is that?

Thanks Mike I appreciate it. I have been reading a lot content from some of the big names and guys who shoot at all the comps like you, Jerry cornfield, etc etc I just want to soak it all in. I will be shooting at at least 3 of the 4 big ones next year due to what I mentioned to you in PM. I do need to practice more wind reading.

The stock is a thing of beauty, Jared hand picked this one out of the 4 they had at AoA for me and he did a fantastic job.

As far as the scope, it's a Valdada G2 mini 4.5-28x50 MIL. ITS AWESOME! LIKE LIVING LIFE IN 4K.

CT can you tell us a little bit about your glass and at what power were you shooting at 100 yds? Thhanks.

Well Phil, this is my first time using Teir 1 glass so you have to take it with a grain of salt I guess. Its a Valdada G2 Mini 4.5-28x50 MIL , I was shooting on 25 power, for some reason theres something ingrained in me that says never go to max mag haha (literally no idea why) but I am going to start using all my mag. The reticle is awesome, the spaces between the vertical and horizontal marks are perfect. I have yet to try the illuminated reticle as I don't have a cr2032 battery.

I am going to be doing some sort of write up on the scope soon using my tactacam and also going over the turrets because the turrets are absolutely insane.
