First Big Bore should I lube pellets/slugs

I never did and it worked great. However I don't see how some lemon pledge would hurt anything. It might increase accuracy but probably not. Best thing you can do to that gun is get the 3d printed barrel support pieces from pittbull. My guns groups shrank like a quarter inch when I installed them. Good luck buddy. That's a really good gun. I highly suggest using arrows if you plan to kill deer. The bullets most certainly will kill deer but honestly I found the damage they do to tissue underwhelming. An arrow would give a better blood trail and quicker kill.

If not really necessary, I'll probably skip the lube. My gun is on the way back from Veradium Air (Brian Thurman). He did the light tune I requested and did all the good stuff, including barrel supports, depinger, steel cocking lever, trigger adjustment and barrel polishing. No plans to use it for deer, and no feral hogs where I live. Mainly big raccoons, and coyotes like this one that was under my bird feeder this morning:

Had Brian do the light tune on my bulldog as well.
I shoot this 148g slug as it grouped tighter then the 185g/193g MrHollow point.
All these were shot at 10yrds into Clear ballistics gel.

proven coyote killers.. I’m sure the others will do fine. I just like the tightest groups I can get. As Some of my shooting here in AZ can get out to 250-300 yards

Side note: the 148,185 and 81’s will function in the factory mag’s the 193 will not and will need the single shot tray Brian sends with the upgrade he does

I carry tins of slugs with silicone oil applied on the foam and simply pull wet slugs out of them and load up the magazine. I find that the lubed slugs are more consistent in grouping, and in speed, as well as keeps the barrel from leading up. Shooting longer ranges with lubed slugs has many benefits, and those probably outweigh the downside. Only your experiments with and without lube will tell whether the gun performs any better.

I feel speed (fps) consistency shooting at longer ranges is really important. For example, at 250 yards, a 20 fps difference in speed is over an MOA of difference in where the slug will hit (lower) in a relatively fast and flat shooting airgun. Add that 1 MOA difference to a good shooting moa airgun and it stands to reason that the shot may be off by 2 moa, or 5", which is a pretty big group size at 250 yards. Every little advantage helps in the end.

I lube my bullets with 10wt silicone oil. This is after having all my big bore barrels lead up.

.257 Texan, .257 Citrus, .458 DAQ, .58 DAQ, 909s, etc, all leaded up. After thorough cleaning, polishing with JB non embedding paste, more cleaning, and then lubing the barrels, and bullets, cleaning is much easier and I don’t see leaded up barrels.

Now I can shoot several hundred bullets out of my Texan now, and clean barrel with three or four patches. Used to take an hour of scrubbing.

I use normal bullet lube (on normal bullets) and after several hundreds of shots my .50 Texan has yet to show a single speck of lead in the bore.

This makes sense. It is easy to buy lubed cast lead about anywhere, sized and lubed to fit the barrel. We don't see many guys using high pressure lube, because most have and therefore lube the smaller caliber projectiles.
