First attempts at 104 yards...

I typically shoot out to 66 yards in my immediate yard and had been lazy about clearing a sight line out to 100 yards from my deck. Finally set one up today but since I was shooting from inside the dining room it added the 4 extra yards. There was a very light rain which show me wind direction along with a piece of hanging yarn at the target. I was using my Bantam Sniper HR on level 6 on the TP, with Athlon Helos BTR atop sending JSB 18s. Dialed 13 MOA for elevation, I never target shoot at this distance but am looking to remedy that... after a few sighters to get on paper. I sent 15 shots at 104 yards on my property. This is the target... After this I set up 2 black walnut husks at the same distance. Took me 4 shots to hit the first and 2 shots to hit the second. Conditions were calm, so I’m not deluding myself I know what the wind does to the 18s at even 40 yards. That said I’ll be sending many more rounds out to 100 yards now that I can do it at home.

That's some great shooting! So envious of all the members here that can shoot in their own back yards. I shouldnt complain as I have a range within a few minutes drive. Dang this Corona thing makes rethink so many choices. Should have bought the other property when I had the chance. Oh well, live and learn. Sorry. Dont mean to hijack. Just bored.

Keep up the great groups. Maybe send a few downrange for me!

Thank you kgphotos, @ jdh2550, we here in the good ole USA will beat this Corona Virus. It’s going to take a little time but we’ll get there. And, yes I will send a few down range and think of those who can’t. I lived in NYC for over half of my 58 years and as a lifetime shooter, the legal shooting there was basically non existent. I know how lucky I am to be able to shoot at the various range points I have.

Nice shooting, What is the speed your Bantam is shooting those 18s at?

@Sonny, the Bantam is shooting 870-872 FPS avg. with the SD in the single digits. The SD on the strings this gun shoots are unreal in their consistency.

@pumacarl, am excited about the new shooting station as I can now shoot out to that range whenever conditions are right.
@davelarson, yes it’s fun to shoot the distance... the lag time of the pellets at that distance is interesting to me. Send the shot and then wait to see the impact...

@leadfoot, I don’t intend to pursue it past casual shooting at targets. 100 yards is a long ways, and unless conditions are good, it a crap shoot on days of varying winds. Most, if not all of my target shooting is to confirm zero, or to see what the constant wind in my yard does to the pellets at the ranges I shoot. I enjoy plinking the most and place more value on first round hits on small objects at varying distances than target shooting.
