Thanks for the suggestion guys! I've been doing some research and I think I want a .177 spring as I won't really be hunting well who knows right now... you all might hate me but I really want a blck one too I've been looking at a gamo varmint stalker any other suggestions?

Get a Weihrauch HW30S, great rifle to start with. Bit more expensive than 120 quid, but you won't regret it and probably still own it when you have grandchildren.

What about the Beeman R7? It is available in .177 and seems to be the perfect spring rifle for plinking. I don't know if it is available in black, however. It has great reviews and is touted as one of the easiest-to-cock springer, if not the easiest, due to it being a sub-medium-powered rifle. Hey, you did state that you won't be doing much hunting.

The Beeman R7 is the same rifle as the HW30S DeLuxe. Only difference is that the R7 is ment to be shot scoped due to the lack of open sights, the HW30(S) has open sights. Besides, Beeman is sold in the US, TS asked about UK. 

Suggestion Nathan, walk into a gun store and just see what fits you best. In all honesty, I would advice you wait a bit longer and get a HW30S, because the trigger, overall build quality and barrels on the Weihrauch's are much better compared to Hatsan's or Gamo's. I've owned both, and find them to be total crap. But that's my personal opinion as a guy who has been shooting (partly professional) for over 30+ years now.
