Hello AirgunNation Peoples,
Got home from work today to a mysterious box... Hells yeah! It was my two .25 caliber FX STX Superior 600mm Liners for my Crown and Wildcat from Palm Beach Airguns!
The first, liner is going into the Crown .25. (It’s all I’ll have time for before dark). I have a step by step ritual for the installation of a new Smooth Twist Liner and after my meticulous regimen to insure it was all patch-worm clean and installed correctly. I absolutely had to zero this baby and maybe see if this thing can match the accuracy I am getting with the 600mm Slug “A” .25 liner that I have been using with JSB 33.95 and NSA 33.5 HP Slugs flying @ about 950fps.
First, I took 5 shots to zero in @ 25 yards with the JSB 33.95 grain. The first two shots were hitting one mil high and one mil right. So, dialed 10 clicks down and 10 clicks left. The next 3 shots with the JSB’s hit virtually the same spot. I thought, “Well that was quick!” Next I shot 5 shots with the Nielsen slugs @ 25 yards (same zero) and for only the 5th through the 10th shot through the Superior barrel liner they made a exceptional little group. Especially for just installing the new liner 10 minutes ago.
(The group on the right is the zeroing group)
Next, racing sundown, I shot two JSB’s and two NSA’s at my 45 yard gong... Not bad!
(I have taken only 14 shots so far with this new liner at this point)
I kept pushing the distance back further.. This time, @ 50 yards 3 shot groups with both the JSB 33.95 pellets and the NSA 33.5 slugs (JSB’s on top and NSA’s on the bottom)
(20 total shots at this point)
Last up 100 yards! 5 shots with each projectile, totaling 30 shots in all..
(For the high NSA slug shot I forgot my hold over was 2-mils [@100yards] I mistakenly held over 3-mils, which is what the JSB’s require @ 100 yards)
Not too shabby for a rough afternoon zero (Afterwork!) I have a done some more scope refining adjustments and a quick liner index. (Rotated the liner one quarter turn to the left) I shot more nice looking 1”-ish 100 yard groups but it was too dark and late to get pictures. Well, do they own up to the name Superior STX...? I’d say so!! Reasons being, well you can’t shoot pellets and NSA slugs both well from STX pellet liners, and my slug liners took way more than 30 shots to get slug accuracy in that short of a shooting session. Tomorrow, maybe I will install the other STX Superior Liner in my Wildcat .25 and try it all over again. My refining will continue until the accuracy is the best I can achieve!
Thanks,
JoeKool
