Air Venturi First .25 cal choices

I currently have a notos and original avenger in 22. I'm looking to purchase my first budget 25 and have it narrowed down to the avenge x wood stock tube or the barra 250z. I was ready to get the avenge x but the reg creep issues kept me from fully committing, then I discovered the 250z. Which one would you purchase if you could only pick one and why? I'm also strongly considering an sl30. The rifle will be used for shooting groups inside of 60 yards about 90% with the other 10% spent pesting.

I would also look at the Stoeger Scout and Ranger from Air Revisions, or one of his Benjis when they come back in stock. But if you are already set between the AvengeX and a Barra I would pick the AvengeX in wood without a second thought.

Looks like an upgraded Kral line is coming back to Pyramyd. Great budget to mid level platform. $500-700 but shoot like over $1000. I shoot pro class in 100yard benchrest with a tuned Kral and keep up with the bigboys.
I'm really really wanting to get the karma eq but I can't decide between 22 or 25. That's ultimately why I'm getting a more budget friendly 25 to see if I even like the caliber.

The AvengeX will have enough power to max out a 25Cal and try whatever ammo you want. The rest of your choices wont be able to do that. Personally I like 22Cal the best, and a 35-40fpe is enough to max out normal weight pellets and some light weight slugs.

I loved shooting my current avenger in 22 cal, but i felt it lacked power when hunting. I tried about 15 different slugs and couldn't get anything to group well. I think if I push a 25 avenge x and can find a slug it likes I'll be happy. I know that ultimately I should be buying a higher end gun because I'm chasing power and the higher end rifles seem to deliver that, but I simply can't afford to drop 2k or more on a rifle.

Yeah, unfortunately slugs are going to be a gamble regardless what platform you choose. Some are better than others though, but no sure thing. One cool thing about the AvengeX is you can get barrel kits really cheap from PA. If I were you I would consider selling your current Avenger (assuming its not an X version) and buy a new AvengeX in 25Cal and you can always buy a 22Cal conversion kit if you decide you like it better.

That's exactly what I've been considering.

I'd push back against the benji (owning one myself) unless you're OK with shooting pellets mostly as it is and not chasing crazy power numbers or distances. Mines good to 80 yards generally

I know you didn't ask about this one, but the dreamline tactical compact 25 is blowing my mind with what I can do with it. It shoots farther, 860 fps which my mrod won't do with the stock poppet in the valve, and it's insanely consistent. Smaller and lighter. If you care to look at that one.

I'm standing on a patio table feather bombing pigeons at 60 yards with it like it's a death ray and popping starlings at 92 yards almost as easily with a BONE STOCK GUN . Ya it's a 1500 dollar gun, but it's so good I wouldn't have bought my impact 700mm if I had this first. The collection would've been done for expensive guns. Allllll that money on the impact and it's as useless to me as my mrod 25 that sits in my office at work for close pigeons.

Best of luck finding a 25 that suits you, it's a great caliber that's accurate and slaps hard. You're gonna love it when you get there.

Someone just posted a newish avenge x in 22 on the classifieds section. Is there any way for me to get ahold of him? I'm a new member who hasn't posted much so I can't pm him.
You just need to put your time in. The mods will review your account after enough meaningful posts. There are a couple FX Dreamlines for sale in the classifieds right now as well for a little more than a new AvengeX. Might be worth waiting for your pm ability to be approved before buying anything. This forum has a lot of solid members and there are many many great deals to find.

Thank you!!!! I've searched and searched online since the eq came on my radar for that exact info and couldn't find it for the life of me. How many shots are you getting at that setting?
