Finally some warmer Springer weather! ( couple groups today and more tomorrow)

My springers have been neglected for a few months now and I'm itching to get them out in some fresh air!!! Supposed to be 60° here in Michigan Sunday and I'm pumped about getting them out for some trigger time...

18 mph winds but I know a spot in a valley that I can get out of most of it...

HW80K in .22 and my pride and joy Beeman HW97K in .20...the 97 is tuned to the hilt with both the compression tube and piston fully buttoned the trigger worked and polished with an ARH hornet kit and seal! Smooth 14fpe! The 80 is tuned to just a thud also at just over 18fpe with a Rowan engineering setback trigger that is superb!

Very nice Sir! May I ask who tuned them so nicely?
I’ve owned quite a few springers. Some tuned by known “tuners” and some, seller said they tuned themselves. Some of those self tuned ones rivaled the “professional” ones.
Keep in mind I need a spring compressor because a drop in Vortek isn’t a full tune, & I’d really like to learn. I’m getting a bench top lathe for guides, baffles, small stuff. Giving up on dream of turning my own 24-36” barrels.

Anyway I plan on going to John in PA’s house this Summer or as soon as it suits us both. I’ve got a few to drop off for him to try with new Vortek PG3. I need to learn safe takedown & sidelever breech seal replacement at very least.

The Walther LGV is pretty amazing but I wish it had been the high power version. I also want a Partridge type front blade installed and Williams micro click way back for longest sight radius. Oh, a real metal trigger & guard would be nice. Anyone know of aftermarket drop in please contact via PM.

No not SNOW!!!! That sucks 😖

Well I couldn't stand it ....it was only 47 out today with about an 8to9 mph wind but I got a little shooting in this afternoon. This was off a single Caldwell bag on the hood of my truck....lol.

27 lasered yards with the 97 .20 cal...it really likes the old gold top JSBs the best but will shoot the FTTs pretty good in no wind!

Wind was from right to left and variable today but not to bad for not shooting it in months...it really does not like Crosman premiers at all !

JamesD....I was told it was tuned buy Mr Paul Watts but don't have the tune card to prove it....I'm the second owner and I popped it apart when I got it and its done right...cocking slot has been milled and the whole 9 yards! The HW80 was tuned by Lobo WhiteFang Mr OC himself....it was his personal gun and I bought it a few years back...also have the original .20 cal barrel it came with.

Nice shooting James. Your post took me down memory lane!

Years ago I shot a PW tuned 97k .20, so sweet to operate and shoot. A close second would have been a V-Mach V-Glided (FAC) in .20 that was in a JM target stock and topped with an old Tasco Custom Shop hubble😉: I recall a short video was actually filmed and posted on the old YF, we did the "pellet on turret test" and it passed shooting JSBs (gold top!) problem. That kit allowed for a slightly longer stroke and a bit of clearance in the stock to accomodate the long cocking stroke...

Then there's the old school Venom kit (complete internals/powerplant) fitted 97k also in .20 that also had the same long stroke piston, this belonged to my hunting buddy- one of my most memorable hunting shots was with HIS gun on a 50+ yard ground squirrel, but that is a story for another post😉.

Your post now has me inspired to get my 97k .20 set up to its full potential. Thanks James!
