Finally “in the club”. HW77 special edition coming my way!

I shot the TX200 from 1991'-2000'. That was the gen 1. I shot probably over 100,000 pellets through that gun and went through 4 springs. I bought a TX from Brad Troyer a couple months ago and just finished a Maccari kit install on it. Can't wait to compare it to the HW 97.

One of the guys at our club just bought this HW77 classic



It's a beautiful old version, well taken care of and not shot very much. He's not sure if he wants to keep it because he says it's heavy. It shoots very smooth has a Maccari kit in it. Lots of older spring guns in our club.

Brisker, that’s a nice looking rifle. It should be tuned-up to better than new and kept! Do you know if it is a 25 mm or newer 26 mm ?

Not sure I'd have to take another look, but it is old enough to have the small slide to unlatch the underlever .

Found an interesting article on the TX mk3 vs. Mk 2 on another site. Explains why most guys feel the HW97 is easier to shoot than the TX MK3. PM me and I'll tell you where to find it....don't think I can post a link (against the rules?)

So, Brad. I'm not the only one who saves his excellent (to me) targets!!! I put mine in a looseleaf notebook! 

I think I should qualify my earlier statements about the TX200 and the HW97 by saying that I shoot .22 air rifles...for several reasons, not the least of which that the .22 pellets are much easier to handle! It's possible that if I were to be shooting .177's, my opinions might be different!

Some more eye candy until yours arrives. They really are sweet shooting rifles. Mine is a .22cal.

Congrats on the new gun. I think ‘19 will be my 77/97 year. Those SE 77s are just gorgeous.

Loren, my old eyes aren’t up to a 1X red dot anymore. I’m thinking Hawke or Aztec, unless there are better ideas. It sure is a nice looking rifle though.

Michael, you would be surprised! It makes for a good squirrel gun with quick target acquisition. I feel the real limiter is the red dot size is 3 MOA. Not the finest of resolution for target shooting but good enough for hunting.

I have a couple of upper level Hawke scopes and have been real happy with them.
