My addiction continues

Is it just me, but how do all you guys hide all this stuff from your significant other?

I have stuff showing up on the front porch (i.e., only once in a while, ha ha) from PA and AoA via UPS, and I'm getting hard questions about my retirement hobby. JK and having some fun with your post, as it reminded me of my own addiction to this AG hobby.

re. Omega CF tank - I did purchase an Omega 74 cu ft. tank from AoA back in March, and I filled at the Carolina Dive Shop ( around 45 minutes drive ) about 8 weeks ago. So far I have about 15 fills or top offs to my Regal XL. Normally, let it run down to 120 Bar approximate, and then fill to 220 bar. One question - does anyone know about how many fills you might get out of a full Omega 4500 PSI fill, assuming my numbers above? With only one PCP, I can get a lot of fills before I have to fill the Omega again.

Now the challenge is to find a new .25 PCP AG that I really can't justify nor do I need right now; just so I can help justify buying the CF tank. I keep drooling and looking at Rainstorm 2, RAW 1000X, Wolverine R with Huma, FX Streamline, FX Crown, et. al.

Where does this all end!

Eddy, good deal. I clearly remember ordering a CF tank for a friend & having it delivered to my house, I had a 110cf Faber " If it's HEAVY it's a Faber" steel tank, oh my, I NEEDED a CF. But didnt "need" one so I carried ( that's a lower back joke) on. Moved to 49@N & needed air so an altros booster and a 45min CF tank live here now, so nice, enjoy yours.

Tommyb,

A fill calculator for you:

http://www.airgunsofarizona.com/Tanks/FillCalc.html

And no real need to hide anything these days ( oh once upon a time look out!) what you need are a couple of new airguns in a week or so. Honest this WILL help.

What with these modern times and LOW LOW cost sthuff, grab a Maximus on sale somewhere for under $150.00, maybe the next time the wildfire is on sale at $100.00.

Make CERTAIN said partner see's receipts and mention how your planning on cutting back on ---- something that cost $100+ per month--- . Then take them to a dinner & movie ( or???) and send $100 and converse on how the $ certainly is worth spending on metal health alone much less the food. Now we've establish $100 isnt all that much every now and then, it's worth spending that on happiness and an airgun last's longer than dinner ( buy them one also, maybe an $80.00 QB) . You may find if you take to wrapping everything in removable camo tape helps equal the finish out on all of your airguns.

"I" do not suggest and of the above.

John,

Thanks for the calculator, I will give it a try..

I was belly laughing hard when I saw your reply, but she knows this makes me very happy and I do 'bribe,' I mean reciprocate for items she cares about. I just think it's funny that after 37 years married, I am still trying to hide the toys I buy and she always catches me. Your points are well taken though!

Thanks for the tank calculator link!

======================================================================================================================================

I did try the calculator just now.

Given the Regal XL air cylinder is 162 CC; and if I vary the inputs ( low BAR fills to high BAR fills ), I get anywhere from 34-47 total fills. NOTE: I believe that many Regal XL users probably top off at 140 BAR and go to a maximum of 210 or 220, based on achieving the best accuracy with their pellet selection.

- Scenario 1: 110 bar to 220 bar fill = 34.7 fills

- Scenario 2: 140 bar to 220 bar fill = 47.7 fills

- Scenario 3: 110 bar to 250 bar fill = 18.2 fills

Thank you guys.. I bought it to be filled today from 0 to 3500 psi they charged me $ 20 at the paintball store.. I called to the scuba diving store they told me that they can fill it to 4500 psi but my thank has the hp3 valve, they have only the din connection..

does any body knows of any adaptor so they can fill my tank to 4500 psi?

Does your Omega tank have a DIN300 valve? You should be able to remove the male foster from your tank that reveals the the female DIN300. You could also ask them if they fill SCBA tanks using the CGA 347 connection. You could then purchase a female foster to male CGA 347 and have them fill it 4500 PSI. Here's a pic for reference.

This is my tank valve

Eddy,

Just for what it is worth....

I tried a few paintball stores and in my experience, it was hit or miss with them being able to fill to 4500 PSI. Many times, you have to wait in line behind all of the kids trying to get out on the range, or they don't have the right compressors, etc. I spent two hours waiting one time, and had to do the filling myself because it was swamped with people trying to get on the range and I was bounced to the bottom of the line - understandably.

Try a good, reputable dive shop. Normally, much less crowded and check hours for appointments at first opening. I left off my Omega 74 cu ft. tank and they filled, and then they top off to 4500 PSI the next morning. Also, make them check your tank with a regulator so YOU can see that it is in fact filled to 4500 PSI. It is a pain going back and forth to the Dive Shop, but as I said in an earlier post, once it is full to 4500 PSI you will get about 40 fills.

Also, I paid $8.50 for a fill. $20 for a 3500 PSI fill is too much! Let us know how you make out.
