Finally got a pigeon for the Bald Eagle!!

I'll get the footage on the computer later and try to grab some clear frames.....but these are screen shots from my phone.

Within a minute of shooting a feral pigeon on the ground, this eagle flew in and grabbed him! I wished I was more prepared with the camera, as the footage isn't great.

I also wasn't expecting him to be so fast. I thought he'd land on it but instead it was a grab n' go!!! Had a great day pounding the starlings, but this eagle grabbing the pigeon was the highlight for sure!!

:)

Yep … those talons on birds of prey are totally awesome. Shot this squirrel a couple of days ago and in comes this Hawk and starts having a meal. Kinda feel like I'm waiting tables for these birds sometimes. The cats in the neighborhood will do the same trick when they hear me shooting my airguns, they'll all congregate by the creek and it's a mad rush when one goes down to see who can get to the squirrel first … ain't gonna shoot no Hawk but those blasted cats are another thing.

Awesome Bob O!

I hadda coopers hawk nab a downed pigeon that I had shot, as soon as it hit the ground that hawk was on it and took off almost immediately to the top of a hay bale stack and munched it out. Must have been watching and I didn't see it....I keep my eyes open for hawks too as I really enjoy watching them.

Saw a falcon last week (two weeks in a row actually), just perched in a bare eucalyptus tree checking out the pigeons. Ravens and crows in the same tree didn't bother it at all which is unusual as they always harrass redtails.

Tried to down a pigeon for it, but they weren't landing on the usual wire at 85 yards and kept flying around. I was thinking that if the falcon was really hungry, they wouldn't stand a chance even flying. Falcons are Bad Asses and it's very rare to see on in the San Diego area.

Thanks everyone!

I'm working on the video right now. I just wished I would have been in a better position to film the eagle. In the critical stage of filming the clip, which was when he grabbed the pigeon, I was fighting the barrel of the rifle being in the way as well the angle of the car, so I had the camera out the window and could barely see the screen to track him.
