Finally able to hunt this one down

This one has been a ghost. I’ve seen him 1 time in 7 months, but figured I’d luck up eventually. Even when I got a shot, it wasn’t easy. Apparently the squirrel rut is in high gear and he was one of 5 chasing a single female. For some unknown reason, he stopped on a log just long enough for me to range him at 72.3 yards. Not going to lie, it was a complete guess. I went two mils down and put it on the nugget and that was all she wrote. I’ve killed more squirrels than I could count, but never seen one colored up like him. He’ll look good next to the deer mounts…

I believe it’s a fox. Or possibly a cross.

That doesn't look like an ordinary grey squirrel. Bit of an odd coloration and coat is rather long as well........has a nice set on him though!

Nice shot & cool looking silver squirrel. Have one of those hanging around my house. I was going to shoot him, but decided to let him have another year. It is fun to go after a certain squirrel. A friend of mine told me he was going to pick out certain squirrels over a several mile area, for me to go after, but we never got around to it. Probably would of been some road shooting & trespassing involved, maybe if I was younger, not now.



Talking about squirrel rut, a man told me heard a female squirrel calling the strangest call he ever heard ( and he is 67 & hunted squirrels since he was six) he said several squirrels ran after her & during the chase he killed 6 of them in just a few minutes time. That stuff never happens to me. LOL

That doesn't look like an ordinary grey squirrel. Bit of an odd coloration and coat is rather long as well........has a nice set on him though!

It’s definitely a fox. He was chasing along with all the other normal fox squirrels.

I really enjoy going after the odd colored ones. This was one of the two “funny colored” fox squirrels I have hanging around.


I’ve never heard the sound he’s referring too, but definitely seen them chasing throughout my life.
