Umarex Final thoughts on Notos with FX 380 barrel

I thought I would have a super accurate light weight Notos with a 380mm FX barrel, And the big question is the FX barrel more accurate than the stock china barrel,,,, At 30 yards NO ! at 50 yards just a very little , Dime size groups at 30 yards and quarter size groups at 50 yards , Just about the same with the OEM stock China barrel, Its still light weight and fun to shoot, The key to the Notos is light weight , If this think weighted as much as my other guns I would just set it aside and not mess with it,, But its light.For my testing I did install a 6x24 Arken scope light scope I should say. I got a carbon fiber 300cc bottle just setting here and every one is saying the dream regulator is the best way to go for a bottle,, Not cheap but if its the best to install on my cheap as Notos , I'll look for one in the US. Hint, Hint who has got them?
This gun may become my back porch out side gun, Just leave it on the back porch so I don't have to run in a grab a PCP for the varmint's , Just thinking ,

i think the same. i have a buddy who has a notos with an fx barrel kit installed with extended plenum but it’s shooting about the same as my notos stock barrel. i fully ported both his and my gun the exact same way.
stock barrel really isn’t bad.. it’s actually pretty good, even better when you’re able to send 18gr near 800fps.

The barrel isn't magic, your tune has to match. You'll have a bunch of money in a notos when you could've bough a zelos or a Dreamline tactical compact by then more than likely. I like to tune and tweak guns and considered a notos but couldn't make it make sense. If it's something you'd enjoy building then I have to say go for it by all means.

Alright, now I'm going to try to help with that liner ordeal.

What is your plenum pressure?
What pellet?
What velocity?
Is the liner installed in the right direction
Have you cleaned the liner in some fashion yet?
Are you using a moderator, which one and what caliber is it for?

How does the accuracy "fall apart" stringing in a line or willy nilly? Do you ever get 1 really wild one that's way off target?

In all fairness I really need to push the FX barrel to 100 yards , But I think it will fall apart from what I seen so far, I expected pretty well one hole groups at 50 yards like the Mutants, Veterans , RTI, and Crickets, I guess its really unfair to try and compare a cheap as-s china gun with a FX barrel to the CZ and LW barrels of the other guns, I am looking to crown the FX barrel and see it it will settle down a little with a few hundred shots ,, Testing is far far from over I really light the lightness of the gun, That's a big big plus for the notos

I don't have a pressure gauge on my Plenum,
I got so many 22 pellets, I found it likes the 18gr JSB the best at about 810 FPS
Liner barrel is installed correct
Yes any thing is clean before I shoot, Thats a big 101 air gun learning thang, clean it before you shoot it,
I got about six LDC that I swap around to test sound and looks ,

Technically it should be able to. There's just a lot of subtle things that can break up groups. Especially higher power levels with too much air blast behind the pellet.

18 grain at 810 is probably around 100 bar plenum pressure. Which might not be helping to close the valve fast enough. My 380mm fx was acting this way till I set plenum pressure at 150 bar to help shorten the valve event. This may not work for you but I share it to help convey the concept.

Test different velocities at 75 yards and watch what happens to your groups. With one gun I couldn’t figure out why my Hades groups were drifting left and not real good at 75. Played with higher than what I consider normal speeds and bingo, guns deadly. Your little Notos might not have enough a$$ to get those 18’s where a FX liner likes them at over 50 yards.

Yep, my buddies maverick became a 1 hole laser at 930 with hades. Faster than I would've thought for a diabolo shape.

There are no rules, you can start where people suggest but in the end YOU need to try all the options and see what your gun tells you. It's a build, they're all unique like a musical instrument.

It's not like following a recipe in a cookbook no matter what fx tried to sell us on 😅 it took me a year to get past all that nonsense and just try different crap till I figured it out. Then almost another year of fine tuning that at the power I married myself to with my hammer weight choice (fx impact problems).

I like their liners but they seem to only behave themselves in certain nodes and seem to like high pressures. Fwiw my experiences are only with 700mm 500mm and 380mm liners and 22 or 25 cal only.

I like problem solving so keep us posted and I will try to throw brain power your way and hopefully help.

That's changing muzzle weight too. We will get on a path to change it.
