Filter fitting

I just picked up one of the bigger cyclone filters to use with my Gx CS2 pump. I have an Avenge X tube so the filter has tripled the pumping volume. Takes longer to fill but that’s not a real issue.

The connection to the filter output is an M10-1 fitting that is attached to the whip to attach to the Foster fitting. This fitting does butt up against a flat on the filter body and there is a small O ring that is the seal for the fitting. I am getting continual leaks around this fitting. I have had it pressurize up to the full 300 bar a couple of times but then the fill will stall at some pressure below 300 bar. I can tighten up the fitting a bit and maybe it will seal - maybe not. Putting the macho crank on the fitting just rips the O ring up. If I bypass the filter and go back to the CS2 alone, everything is hunky-dorry. So…..

1. Maybe this fitting is only supposed to be lightly tightened? I did grease the O ring. I tried varying tightening amounts but anything less that a fairly stout tightening started leaking almost immediately.
2. I ordered a M10-1 Foster adapter that I want to try. Should I be using some sort of Dowty washer to seal against the flat? I’d also assume that I could blue LocTite the fitting after install it.

The filter is definitely working. Opening up the discharge port shows water coming out.

Thanks for any assistance!

Tony

PS - I’ve also added a heat sink and a third fan to the head of the pump. Going from 0 to 300 bar takes about 16 minutes with the filter and the head temp never goes above 90F. Without the sink and the fan, the head temp got to 110F. Pretty big improvement.

I think you are mistaking a 3/8" BSP (9.5mm) for a 10mm.
Bubba,

The fitting that came with the filter was identified as a M10-1. The adapter I ordered is a M10-1 threaded to the the Foster. The adapters were available in 1/8 NPT; 1/8 BSPP; and the M10. I think I have the correct one. I have both of the 1/8 flavors here and neither one of those is the correct size.

Just as a follow up and ending to the story, the M10 to Foster adapter came with a Dowty washer. I installed that; snugged it up; bada boom, bada bing, no more leaks. It would have been nice if the Dowty washer was included with the filter but not a big deal. I like being able to connect/disconnect from the filter with the Foster fitting anyway.
