It was suggested that I leave the probe in my Daystate Revere to now wear out the O-ring. I don’t see others doing this. Is it a good or not so good idea? Are there any downsides to doing so? Thanks
not a problem to insert and remove... unless you loose the thing... then it's crapola. I wish all MFGR's would switch the QD foster fittings... so much easier.

FYI...
Did y'all know that the plastic caps from the valve stems on your car snaps right onto a foster fill probe?
I hate fill probes. I wish there was some kind of international law that they all have to be the same and fit ALL guns.
I mean, how many different size o-rings does a guy have to keep on hand? They should also come with a built in GPS locator.
I leave them in the gun and snap a valve stem cap on them. They are available free at your local Walmart parking lot. :ROFLMAO:

Most of my PCPs are foster, the fill probes that aren't are fitted with a foster adapter.

I'll typically shoot one airgun in a session, it only takes a second to attach the correct probe to the foster on the hose. It's a non-issue to me.

Would be nice if all PCPs used a standard way of filling. Realistically, the foster fitting is quite bulky and long and doesn't suit every airgun design.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers!

On the one gun I have that uses a probe, I just insert it when I need to fill and remove it when done. After 4 years I had to replace the o-ring at the end of the probe, as it was cracked and nicked and would leak while filling. But I must have gone through 200+ fills (with a hand pump, if it matters) before it failed. And I was able to continue using it for a bit by keeping it excessively lubed. But the grease is more expensive than the o-ring it turns out. I bought a baggie of 50 for a couple of bucks at the hardware store. The ones that came with the probe were polyurethane and I replaced the defective one with a buna-n. It works just fine, even though they are mismatched. That o-ring at the end of the probe can get beat up and I think perhaps the slightly softer buna o-ring can take a little more abuse. I'll know if it goes more than 4 years before needing a replacement.
