Resources Field target is an arms race price test

"Also, why would you leave your gun in direct sunlight Dan? Don't you cover it with a towel/reflective wrap or keep it in a gun bag? I do everything I can to keep my rig at ambient temperature"

yes under a reflective cover. still when its 85 - 100 ambient, hard to keep the gun cool(er)

might be a tangent to this..... gearing up for the worlds, I ran across some info that spoke of springers slowing down as it gets warmer. Running longer (35-50 shots) strings over the chrony, I measured the gun's starting temp, and the temp after showed a 5 - 8 degree increase. Ambient temp in that case was 60ish F. So the gun -- at least mine-- is affected by the heat. Hence my comment....

I wouldnt.
I should have more fully explained why I said that: having the varied quality of guns affected by heat then testing may show temp related shifts. Id expect the "better quality" gun to show less them than the lower cost models. IMO. a justifiable part of the arms race is having gear that not as affected by environmental conditions.

Shot from a bench on bags or otherwise is a POLAR DIFFERENCE from how you would hold and shoot actual field Targets in competition !!!
Ergonomics of each type rifle, mitigating recoil, comfort in holding steady and how rifle gets supported are so different that any FT position and miens does not apply & the data while an interesting read is pretty irrelevant IMO as presented for FT comparative sake.

Just my perspective ... no insulting intended

You should check out the mess I had at the range today. I posted a long version on best day at the range.

TX200 from the bench was a 4 inch group at 50 yards and from the bucket and sticks it was 1 inch . But I am still finding the best hold with the sticks.

It should be less than 1 inch.

Better today.
I had to spend some time with the sight in and dope chart after replacing my scope.
As for an arms race. The gun is definitely the important part. But unless you spend serous money on a scope you will not get what you want from the gun. I have never been able to range with a scope the between 50 yards and 55 yards before today.

This is two cards with a click of scope adjustment between them. Ten shots from 50 yards.
Scope is zeroed at 25 yards. I aimed at the top POA and the impact is just about 2 mil down. Is that how it is said?
The second long crosshairs, Is that two mil?
