Delaware County Field & Stream Association DCFSA
713 Chester Creek Road, Brookhaven PA 19015

Field Target sight-in opens at 07:45 at the Air Rifle Range at the top of the hill.
(Drive past the clubhouse, drive uphill past the shotgun fields on your right, continue to the end of the lane.)

Safety meeting at 08:50, match starts at 09:00.

The Field Target match (in the ‘Field Target Forest’ behind the clubhouse) has ten lanes, three target per lane, each target shot twice. One standing lane, one kneeling lane. The June 29th match has a course Troyer of 30.7 - each 2025 match creeps to a higher Troyer number.

AND…A 10-METER OFFHAND COMPETITION!

Right after the Field Target match, a 10-meter offhand competition at the Air Rifle Range.

This competition has 20 scored shots using rifle, or pistol, or both!
Standard 10-meter ISSF airgun rifle & airgun pistol targets are used.
You can use your Field Target gun, or bring a specific 10-meter gun (.22-caliber, 25 foot-pound limit.)
PCP and ‘old school’ guns are welcome, any sights/scopes/red dots are allowed…there will be classifications based on equipment.

AND…A ‘RISK/REWARD’ SILHOUETTE CHALLENGE!

Alongside the 10-meter offhand competition will be a NEW Silhouette challenge.

This challenge locates silhouette stands at 20 and 30 yards.
Each stand has twenty critters - five Chickens, five Turkeys, five Pigs, and five Rams.
10 offhand shots per stand, 20 shots per match.
[4-points per Chicken], [3-points per Turkey], [2-points per Pig], [1-point per Ram].
Multiple shots may be taken at a single critter.
No shooting jackets, no shooting gloves, (.22-caliber, 20 foot-pound limit.).
Piston rifle class & PCP rifle class.

IF weather forces us to forego the Field Target portion, we will still have a great time under roof at the 10-Meter and Risk/Reward Silhouette events. Updates will follow about the Field Target weather status.

Fee for everything…$10.00…what a steal!

I am curious about the "Risk/Reward" aspect. Can you please explain a little bit about how that works? Thanks.
Kenny

The smaller silhouette targets have more 'Risk' to hit them, but more points 'Reward' when hit.
(I couldn't think of a better name - does anyone have a suggestion?)
Okay. I understand the concept. Upon my first read I didn’t grasp that at each silhouette stage the shooter had only ten shots and therefore had to choose which of the 20 targets to shoot. My initial confusion was based on my own lack of reading comprehension .😂 That does sound like a fun method for shooting silhouettes and I think your name/title of “risk and reward” is very fitting. Thanks,
Kenny

This will be the first time to do the 'Risk/Reward Silhouette Challenge'
Here is one of the two stands (needs fresh paint)...

Another day of airgun excellence at Delaware County Field & Stream Association!

The weather did not give us any useable precipitation or wind excuses in the Field Target match - a good thing. We could only gripe about the temperature, which was warm-to-hot on a Pennsylvania scale (mid-80’s F.) At sight-in, a couple shooters discovered odd effects on their optics from the warm temperatures…strange how that happens. Fortunately all but one of the Field Target shooting lanes was shaded under trees. The kneeling lane was not - it was the ‘hottest’ lane - congrats to Brian VanLiew for cleaning it! We wrapped up the Field Target match just at noon, when the club’s shotgunners started, and gave the way-overhead Field Target tree canopy an occasional spray of #8 shot.

Suggestions on making the Field Target matches even better are always appreciated. An excellent one today was providing large-ish kill zones on the standing lane targets. Standing is hard…why make it worse!

From the Field Target ‘forest’, we retired to the airgun range - a nice open-sided building replete with floor-mount fans to keep us cool. We lost Mark Mayer & Paul Varney, who had to get on the road, but gained Mike Harris - yay! Both 10-meter and (first time ever) ‘Risk/Reward’ silhouette offerings were available. Brian Wagner & Brian VanLiew were the inaugural shooters at the ‘Risk/Reward’ silhouette. It was so nice they did it again! Mike Harris & Mark King did some old-school 10-meter shooting with a vintage FWB 300. Mike also used the opportunity to sight-in a sweet new PCP target pistol.

Big thanks again to George Riley for the sight-in field cleanup, handling finances, and support of all things airgun at Delaware County Field & Stream Association!

Here’s the scores…

There must be a time limit?
