Trying to decide on my first FFP scope 

Hawke sidewinder FFP 4-16 x 50 good reviews $750

MTC Corbra F1 4-16 x 50 no reviews $450

anyone have any experience with the MTC FFP scope or just bite the bullet and get the $750 Hawke?

Any input would be appreciated thanks

The best made FFP scope that I have shot with, is the Element Helix + - USD 500.00

The sharpness is better than the one of my Leupold binoculars.

The clicks are perfectly defined and the re-zero of the turrents the best I know.

If you want a little better glass then the ones you listed as well as a lifetime warranty for the same price there is also Midas Tac HD series they are built like tanks very tactile with clicks track great have a mechanical zero stop and the ed glass is crystal clear.

For just trying out a FFP scope, you might consider a Primary Arms. I have a couple of them.

I have both the Helos and Midas TAC scopes from Athlon, 2 of each. Reticle choose is a personal preference. I find the Helos better for woods, or dim light, and the Midas better for targets, or reasonably bright conditions. The IR feature makes the Helos heavier and bulky compared to the Midas. The Midas clicks are more precise, and the big difference is the glass. The Midas is as bright and clear as scopes costing twice as much. The only minor complaint I gave with the Midas, the elevation turret is neither covered, nor lockable. Not being lockable makes it simpler, less bulky and more precise in its feel, all good. And the clicks are very distinct, so it's not likely I will accidentally move it, but I always set it to zero so I can verify it at at glance. I wish it were covered, but it is a very minor thing. Overall, I think the Midas TAC may be the best value out there in a FFP quality scope.

I bought a BSA 4.5-14X FFP Tactical scope from motorhead.

He used it on his Pistol for FT.

BSA does not make (import) them anymore.

I put it on on my 10/22.

It is fantastic…..

I will second the Athlon offerings. Midas tac is great and while I have never needed it they have a great warranty.

'Twixt the two you listed, I would go with the MTC - good optics, good adjustment, and seemingly more durable than the Hawke offerings (which may not matter in an airgun, but why get one when you can do better for less money?). I've been thoroughly disappointed with US Optics - very mediocre scopes for the money, imo. In the same price range as the Hawke, the Vortex PST-1 are good, and I am using one quite happily on one of my Leshiy 2's. 

All that said, don't get too hung up on FFP. I demand FFP for a PRS rifle, but it honestly hasn't bought me anything but additional expense in airguns.

Have you looked at the Element series?? I have the Helix FFP and its an amazing scope, I got a Titan too on my firearm, Savage 10 .308 I wanted something for the early morning hunting with illumination and that thing is also on point, took it up to Fort Dix New Jersey and shot on the long ranges there and was pinging targets at 700 yards.

Crimson Trace also makes a super nice ffp. I have this one one with the mr1-moa reticle:

Huge tube size (34mm) but the clarity and brightness is outright amazing. Reticle is razor sharp. Japan glass, Japan made. Solid clicks in the turrets, focus is smooth as butter.

Do not discount the Discovery scopes. They are excellent.

I have a discovery vt3 ffp that currently sits on my impact compact, and for the money it’s great glass, turrets are decent, and priced REALLY well. 


athlon also has great offerings ( my Argus 6-24 has an awesome reticle, and tracks great for the price)

but don’t discount the Aztec optics scopes. I have the 5.5-25 ffp on a wildcat, and it’s my favorite of the bunch.

Newbie to this forum, so... Have ordered the FX Impact M3 in .25 with 600mm barrel. Looking for recs on optics and mounts.
