I really like the FFR scope BUT don't think I would purchase one without the IR because of zooming low power the cross hairs can become very hard to see. But with the IR you have an aiming point. Comments?
I agree at the lowest power the illumination makes a big difference, though I can still see the reticle without it. As a general rule I like illumination on my scopes for pesting and hunting. My experiences are with an Aztec Emerald FFP and an Athlon Helos BTR.
I agree on the preference for an illuminated reticle, whether it's FFP or SFP. Mostly because I hunt a lot with my air rifles. Regardless of design, all the reticles I've seen are black, and black doesn't stand out very well against dark backgrounds, especially in the twilight and dawn hours.
