No offense to all you Navy Veterans, it's just a figure of speech.
I packaged up my Wildcat and sent it off by Fed Ex to have some warranty work done on the regulator. Even got an e-mail verifying that the package had been delivered on Monday to FXUSA and signed for by someone named S Smith.
Just got a call from a lady with Fed Ex named Kate who said she has my gun. They had to open the package because there was no address sticker on the box. When she opened the box she found a note that I had written to the folks at FX describing how the gun was acting and exactly what I wanted done to it. The note had my address and phone numbers on it .... without that note I would probably simply be out one Wildcat as there was no address sticker, no name, no contact info, no tracking number ... no nothing to help them decide who belonged to that box.
I asked her how that could happen. She said that the sticker apparently came off my box and somehow got attached to another box and the other box was promptly sent to FX in Wilmington NC. Sooooooo FX is sitting on a delivery that they have no idea who it belongs to or what they want done with it ... because it had my sticker on it. Who knows ... it's probably a box full of women's panties.
A word to the wise here might be in order ... if we are going to be using companies like Fed Ex and UPS to deliver high dollar merchandise for warranty work it might be a real good idea to put something in the box with whatever you are shipping that gives them your name ... address ... phone numbers ... e-mail address etc. You can no longer rely on a tracking number and a e-mail stating that your shipment has been delivered with these carriers.
