Favorite lightweight AR stock

i’m finding this stock to be a bit clunky on the HP max. I like how it’s easily adjustable though. Do any of you have a favorite very lightweight alternative that I could swap this out for. This is my first AR stock… not sure where the standard replaceable part begins and the AEA parts end. Is the hinge mechanism itself also part of a standard AR set up, or is that hinge an AEA part?

From the folding hinge forward is most likely proprietary. You should be able to swap any AR15 carbine stock on there. The only thing you have to check is if the buffer tube/receiver extension is mil-spec or commercial. Here's a reference...

Honestly? Look for mil-spec versions. Stay away from anything with a “flipper” adjustment. They all fail. I know, based on decades of experience. But, then, I am sure there is a “Call of Duty” fan who knows better.

One thing to consider in a stock is having the ability to mount a cheek riser if you have high scope rings. The Magpul CTR or MOE stock is a safe bet. You can order separate cheek risers in .25", .50", and .75" height to suit your needs for a comfortable cheek weld. What I also look for in a stock is if they come with QD sling cups. It just makes it easier to attach a sling.

What do you mean clunky? Does it have play and wiggle? If so just add a little electric tape to snug it up.

What do you mean clunky? Does it have play and wiggle? If so just add a little electric tape to snug it up.

It feels like more plastic and metal than is needed for the airgun, adds a fair amount of weight, swings heavily and so on. If this is among the lightest I will just live with it but I would love to have something skeletonized, very lightweight. Thank you

That side-folding mechanism also adds weight. I'm not sure if you care to have the side-folder attachment but see if you're able to remove it and attach the female end with the castle nut and buffer tube forward of the hinge.

The Hogue OverMold adj. stock comes in at .5 lb. That's not including the buffer tube. The Mission First Minimalist stock is the next lightest at .7 lb

I like this DoubleStar ACE skeleton stock on my Evol to lighten it up and shorten the length of pull, used with a folder unit. The cheek foam is not "adjustable" but it works for me.

My favorite is the non folding A1 style with a bag of lead shot in it for balance.....
