Favorite fixed 4 or 6x

My favorite 6X has to be the Dedal-NV Stalker.

That's an awesome choice. Probably one of my front runners but it's hard to get over the price. I know it's less than a lot of scopes, but I'm planning on putting this on a work horse compact gun that's gonna get beat up.

Totally understood. What gun do you plan to mount it on?

Ideally something like a Taipan Mutant? Still looking. Maybe a Cricket or some other compact bullpup too. Not sure yet. I have some other compact guns but I dont want to mess them up haha. Do you have a favorite for shooting pests? Lately I've been angry at all the rats in my yard and the squirrels that have been digging up all my plants!

I've been happy with my R5M Standard in .25cal depending on the distance and type of pest. For rats, I enjoy using my Leshiy in .22 set up at 12fpe for around the house.

I don't like fixed power scopes except for the SWFA SS 10x specifically (all of their other higher magnification fixed power scopes aren't clear according to my eyes and their 20x really sucks). If I needed a 6x I'd go for the Leupold VariX Freedom 3-9x33 EFR and have a Leupold Custom shop reticle installed. It's clear and bright and relatively small and under 10 ounces and you really get more than you pay for in optics and quality when it comes to Leupold IMHO. They are one of the few manufacturers that you actually need to have to send in your scopes regularly for repair or replacement under their lifetime warranty.

Thanks, Peskadot. Those r beautiful guns! I've always wanted an Edgun and now think I'm gonna check out a Lelya 2.0 or Leshiy haha.

Thanks, Odoyle! I'd love to try a Leupold. I'll have to keep an eye out for great deals. They seem kind of pricy for full MSRP.

6X SWFA MOA Quad is my all time favorite hunting optic. I can easily take birds out to 120 yards, if I do my part. I have the 10X too but the 6X is much easier to hold steady off-hand or from a hunting position or field rest.

Thanks igolfat8. Great suggestion. That was my top choice too when I made this post. The only thing that's holding me back is that my eyesight ain't what it used to be and I find myself losing the reticle more and more and think I'll need some sort of illuminated reticle.

Dedal is illuminated and a great fit for the Classic Leshiy. Did you buy that one listed earlier?

I believe a previous poster compared the SWFA to the Dedal but I can't seem to find the post. As I recall the Dedal had a greater field of view, better eye box and better glass. But Dedal has capped turrets if you're a dialer.

SWFA had great glass for the money and exposed turrets. Plus no integrated mount so more flexibility in mounting for eye relief and height. Good or a bad thing depending on your point of view.

I do wish I could mount my Dedal a bit lower and a bit further back on my Leshiy but I do really like it a lot. I've had it off my Leshiy many times and I've never had to re-zero when putting it back on. Maybe a single click for windage and elevation a time or two but that's it. So when looking at the price of the Dedal (and the weight) you do have to consider that it basically comes with a high quality set of "rings" built in.

Dedal focuses to four meters. SWFA is 10 yards or meters.

Thanks Scouty. Yes I did! I'm excited and sounds like i got to give the deal stalker a second look...

Well thank you for buying it. I've been thinking about setting up one in 25 and I didn't want to explain to the wife the rationale of buying another one versus just adding a 25 barrel to the collection. I think I'm up to five barrels but they're all in 177 and 22.

But back to the Dedal, what I really like about it is how fast you can get on target at 6x. With the FOV and eye box I can get on target quicker than I can with lower magnification on some of my less expensive scopes with narrower FOV and more finicky eye boxes.

I'm also able to scan back in forth in the trees with both eyes open. I can even shoot it accurately from a bench with both eyes open.
