Favorite 457 projectile?

My favorite for accuracy while hunting

This next one is the most accurate .457 bullet I've tried but they don't open up that much, just punch right througn a big hog for example. But it is the best long range target bullet I've shot.

Have you shot any game with the 302gr version?

Sorry on log response time, I had the Covid19 which went into pneumonia and spent some days in the hospital.

No, I haven't hunted any hogs (or deer, it's not the season yet) with the NSA 302 but I know Nick did a LOT of development on it and he's pretty particular with what he puts on the market. NSA has always been acclaimed for their accuracy shooting swaged bullets but the HP were a little small and in several calibers I didn't get that good of expansion. 'Rat Sniper' was/is selling a hollow bullet for years and it had good accuracy and great expansion and as they say, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" so Nick developing and selling the .457 - 302gr was just a matter of time. They 'look' like they will do well to me. My recommendation is buy some and test them in your gun.

I usually use cast bullets because I save so much money DIY but there are of course the trade-offs that cast bullets MAY have accuracy robbing imperfections but a good caster doesn't have that many culls and the great number of choices in bullet weight and styles make it easier to find the right bullet for a particular air rifle (baring the cost of molds - I have somewhere around +-70 molds and as each one cost around $100 that's a huge investment. Especially since most of them aren't used, I've found a couple in each caliber that just are perfect and that's about all I cast anymore.)

Thanks for the comments on the NSA 302, I have some and have chrony tested with my Extreme. Once the new barrel is installed I plan to do some accuracy testing. IIRC it previously shot them at 920fps with a 26" barrel, it is being replaced with a 32.5". They should be moving a little faster once she is back together..

With the 32.5" barrel I may step up to the 348gr, I should be able to get them into the low to mid 900's...
