Farthest springer kill

Those shots happen. Last summer my mom texted me and said dad just dropped a crow off a telephone pole with his Red Ryder BB gun. Went outside to run them off, didn’t feel like hammering it with his Edgun and dealing with a carcass. So he just aimed at it, probably 40 yards away and dropped it with one to the dome. Later he said he saw the bb curving in for a strike and thought uh oh.

Head shot a ground squirrel at 90 paces. I have a 34 inch in seam so not sure how far it was. Nailed it right in the ear using a rws 34 in .177 with a rws 400 scope. I aimed about 1 foot above it. Could I ever have repeated that NO.
That’s about 85 yards or so and no joke. Too bad we couldn’t have the expressions on our faces captured the moment these shots are taken. A buddy and I used to film all our long range varmint hunting and there are a couple of those faces captured on film. They are priceless.
